I don't bite, dropping me a note here is the quickest way to contact me. If you need to contact me using an alternative method my email is SixflashphotoAt

I work in a spirit of COM:AGF with Commons images for deletion, as well sourcing images and fighting vandalism.

Please do not be offended if I nominated your images for deletion. There are processes to provide copyright permission and even undelete images which have already been removed.

If you need a really fast response to a general question, please write at the Village Pump.

Hi, Welcome to VI. You are full of good will, and it is very appreciable. You have a problem with your images that are too dark and with a bad color temperature. You have a good camera: check your settings. But in my opinion it is your screen that is badly calibrated if you do not have a calibrator made you lend one and you will be quiet for a few months. Have a nice day --Archaeodontosaurus (talk) 06:19, 20 August 2017 (UTC)

@Archaeodontosaurus: Thank you for your nice message. I’m sorry for my late reply; I’m still settling back from seeing the Eclipse. I’ve noticed the darkness problem myself. I checked my camera thoroughly and believe it to be set right. I do have a monitor that is calibrated and I notice a big difference on that than on my laptop I use for everyday tasks. I hope to have the brightness issue dealt with but please tell me if you feel there still could be an issue. As far as the color temperature, I don’t know what could be wrong there. I haven’t shot anything new since I returned but if you have any suggestions in my future photographs please let me know! Sincerely, Sixflashphoto (talk) 02:30, 31 August 2017 (UTC)

Ohio infoEdit

Hi there! I noticed you've been uploading pics from the Columbus area, and wanted to drop you some info:

  • We do have the Ohio Wikimedians User Group, which I encourage you to join if you're in or around Ohio. We provide updates on local events, projects, etc.
  • At OSU, there's a student organization called Wikipedia Connection. I founded it back in 2015, though have since graduated. They host weekly workshops, edit-a-thons, photo drives each Spring, and so on. If you happen to be affiliated with OSU, I encourage you to check it out!

Thanks, ~Kevin Payravi (talk) 23:05, 6 September 2017 (UTC)

Aloha! Thanks for tagging selfies for deletion. You might want to use Com:VFC, makes it much easier to tag a lot. Makes processing the lot easier as well. Cheers! --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 15:29, 30 October 2017 (UTC)

Not really. It takes some experience on a wiki or here. You'll get there eventually. In the meantime, you can take a peek here: Commons:Counter Vandalism Unit. Enjoy!   --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 20:01, 31 October 2017 (UTC)

Welcome, Dear Patroller!Edit

Hi Sixflashphoto,

You now have the Patroller right and may call yourself a patroller! Please take a moment to read the updated Commons:Patrol to learn how Patrolling works and how we use it to fight vandalism.

As you know already, the patrolling functionality is enabled for all edits, not just for new-page creations. This enables us to keep track of, for example, edits made by anonymous users here on Commons.

We could use your help at the Counter Vandalism Unit. For example by patrolling an Anonymous-edits checklist and checking a day-part.

If you have any questions please leave a message on the CVU talkpage or ask for help on IRC in #wikimedia-commons.

English | മലയാളം | ಕನ್ನಡ | ತುಳು | +/− Guanaco (talk) 01:45, 4 November 2017 (UTC)

I have granted rollback rights to your account; the reason for this is that after a review of some of your contributions, I believe I can trust you to use rollback correctly by using it for its intended usage of reverting vandalism, and that you will not abuse it to revert-war. For information on rollback, see Commons:Rollback. If you do not want rollback, just let me know, and I'll remove it. Good luck and thanks. Guanaco (talk) 01:45, 4 November 2017 (UTC)

Want to show your participation in Wiki Loves Monuments 2017? Add {{User Wiki Loves Monuments 2017}} to your userpage!

Thank you for contributing to Wiki Loves Monuments 2017 in the United States during the month of October! The United States contest saw over 1,400 people (the most of any nation this year) contribute over 8,000 great photos of cultural and historic sites from all over the United States and its territories. Hundreds of these photos are already being used to illustrate pages on various Wikimedia projects.

We're excited to announce that our national judging process has concluded, and that we have selected the winners of Wiki Loves Monuments 2017 in the United States! These photos are recognized for their photographic quality, artistic merit, and their encyclopedic value as illustrations of unique historical sites. We were amazed by all of the uploads, and regret only being able to formally recognize the top 10. That being said – congratulations to our national winners and their amazing shots! Our 10 winners will be sent to the international Wiki Loves Monuments jury, who will then select the winners of the international contest. If you're interested in seeing the winners of the other national contests, you may do so at Wiki Loves Monuments 2017 winners.

If you would like to view all the photos submitted for the U.S. this year, you may do so here.

Finally, we have also created a feedback form for all U.S. participants to fill out. The survey is optional and anonymous, and only takes a minute or two – we hope to use the feedback to organize better events in the future!

A quick thank you to our national jury, as well as Commons editors who have helped categorize and place photos for the event. And finally, thank you for participating in Wiki Loves Monuments and helping to preserve our history through photography - we hope to see you again for future Commons photography events!

~Kevin Payravi & Nikikana, from Wiki Loves Monuments in the United States (16:26, 15 November 2017 (UTC))

Help meEdit

Hello I just want someone to help me with these things, believe it or not I am a13yrs Sekwanda (talk) 18:24, 5 December 2017 (UTC)

Help meEdit

And how are you even talking to me? How do you do it? Sekwanda (talk) 18:26, 5 December 2017 (UTC)
@Sekwanda: It's quite alright. We all make mistakes. Perhaps if you tell me if there was something specific you were trying to do I could point you in the right direction? As for pinging a user use { { then the word ping then a | and their user name followed by two } } with no spaces in it. If you look at the edit tab you can see how i'm notifying you. Best regards -- Sixflashphoto (talk) 18:32, 5 December 2017 (UTC)

You are not getting me.Edit

You are not getting me, I never ment to edit any thing, I do not even now if you are a computer or a human are you a human? Sekwanda (talk) 18:40, 5 December 2017 (UTC)

@Sekwanda:Yes I am a human. And I'm willing to try and help you if you could tell me what the issue seems to be? -- Sixflashphoto (talk) 18:44, 5 December 2017 (UTC)

I saw the edit or page what ever it is.Edit

I saw the page or edit you just made about me, does these mean these will also come of it? And where are you right now? I am in Botswana. Sekwanda (talk) 18:52, 5 December 2017 (UTC)

there's my issueEdit

Well the issue is that these place is like a maize, they keep on telling me that there is a message on my talker or what ever it is but I don't even now where it is. Sekwanda (talk) 19:01, 5 December 2017 (UTC)

@Sekwanda: Ah! Maybe I understand your issue. You have a User page and a Talk page (shown as the Discussion tab) You posted some text in the wrong area, I took care of it, and left a message there. It's no big deal.
When you want to talk to someone, you can just edit the previous section like I have been doing on someones talk page. Go into my discussion tab and you'll see. You don't have to create a new topic each time. I like to keep a fairly clean Talk page and may merge some of these conversations into 1 but don't delete personal messages from someone especially a warning from an admin (which to be clear, I am not.) That is highly frowned upon and may look suspicious.
I am in the United States. You may want to post some Babel boxes on your User page to let people know what languages you speak and some things about you. Hopefully this helps some. Commons can be like a maze but don't get discouraged. It's a great community and a really enjoyable project to be a part of. -- Sixflashphoto (talk) 19:09, 5 December 2017 (UTC)

are you the anly one out thereEdit

I just want to now if there are more of you guys out there and if there is how many Sekwanda (talk) 19:12, 5 December 2017 (UTC)

@Sekwanda: Oh there are about 6000 active members on commons, autopatrolled members at least I believe. I could be wrong, that's not a stat I know off the top of my head. -- Sixflashphoto (talk) 19:14, 5 December 2017 (UTC)

How can I communicate with them.Edit

And can I talk to them just like you. Sekwanda (talk) 19:25, 5 December 2017 (UTC)

Yes. You can talk to anyone but a very good tip is that you don't have to create a new topic or hit Add topic whenever you want to talk to someone. You can simply Edit the Talk page. It may be easier to start a new conversation with the Add topic button but it builds up on someones talk page fairly quickly. -- Sixflashphoto (talk) 19:28, 5 December 2017 (UTC)

United States.Edit

So United States, that's a very popular country, you must be proud to be an American. Sekwanda (talk) 10:44, 6 December 2017 (UTC)

Dear patrollerEdit

That is true, i was a "sockmaster". It was a one-time mistake for which I was punished by Guanaco, i was over a month's banned. Therefore, I am asking You to give this information to the public, that I have already learned a lesson for it. It would be exceedingly pleasing to have such an eagerly remembered error been supplemented with the information that it was a converted past. Regards Stan old (talk) 17:25, 20 December 2017 (UTC)

@Stan old: Thank you for getting back to me. Being as up front and prompt as you are shows very good faith on your part. I am having this looked into. Once Guanaco says every thing is above board the template will be removed. If this was my own error I apologize. Issues such as this are usually resolved very promptly if there are no real issues. Thank you, -- Sixflashphoto (talk) 17:33, 20 December 2017 (UTC)
@Sixflashphoto: Thank you for your answer. I do not blame you for restoring information about the "sockmaster". I know that this is due to your concern for Wikimedia. I believe that Guanaco will support my explanation. Regards Stan old (talk) 17:58, 20 December 2017 (UTC)
@Stan old: Davey2010 (talk · contribs) Took care of it. I'm glad it was able to be corrected quickly. I am sorry for my error. -- Sixflashphoto (talk) 18:47, 20 December 2017 (UTC)
Hi Sixflashphoto, I absolutely understand why you restored it but to me if the editor is unblocked then the template serves no purpose other than to shame the editor, That being said they should've archived the talkpage instead of removing it all so i've archived their talkpage for them, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 18:51, 20 December 2017 (UTC)
@Sixflashphoto: @Davey2010:I apologize You, Sixflashphoto that i using your talk page, but i must reply Davey2010. Dear Davey2010 i understand, that in your opinion each anyone who has made a mistake should be eternally stigmatized. Maybe should be marked with a scarlet letter or his ear or hand should be cutted off. But it is Christmas time, be more merciful for others and for me too. Regards Stan old (talk) 19:45, 20 December 2017 (UTC)
Stan old - "that in your opinion each anyone who has made a mistake should be eternally stigmatized" - Not at all - I've made plenty of mistakes myself (and still do) but I certainly do not agree that everyone should be shamed, That said to save confusement I figured archiving was better than deleting (this was done for historical purposes not to in any way, shape or form shame you), It is Crimbo but that doesn't mean we get to ignore all policies for one day, I follow en:WP:IAR on a daily basis and I'm probably the most lenient editor you'll ever come across so please stop treating me as If I'm some sort of person who follows every rule by the letter .... I don't!, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 22:15, 20 December 2017 (UTC)

Hi, Just a heads up I've gone to AN to ask - Unlike EN thing's are pretty calm there so you're not going to be hung, drawn and quartered :), Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 00:00, 23 December 2017 (UTC)

Davey2010 It's perfectly alright. I wont review anything else until things are clearer. I asked Jcb as well as you if I was doing it right (I like to hear lots of ideas) and he essentially said yes. But If I am doing something wrong, anything wrong at all I want to know so I'll be sure not to review anything else until AN gives some clarification. You asked a good series of questions that I'd like answered myself. All the best -- Sixflashphoto (talk) 00:59, 23 December 2017 (UTC)
As I said at AN I wish I read COM:Public_domain first, Ah well sorry that about that, Thanks for being patient and understanding :), Have a great crimbo :), –Davey2010Talk 00:36, 24 December 2017 (UTC)

Otoño Mágico photosEdit

Hello, I received a message in my new gallery Otoño Mágico en el Valle del Ambroz about several photos I have uploaded. I am the owner of all those photos, tell me please what do I have to do to solve the warning you sent. Thanks in advance --Diegocurto (talk) 10:13, 26 January 2018 (UTC)Diegocurto

@Diegocurto: Well there are several problems. Some appear to be Adverts for a business. If that is incorrect please say so and what they really are because they appear to be advertisements, on the nomination page. The ones that appear to be adverts were in one batch. But all appear to have copyright violations. In one the Metadata said Author: Isidro Febles - Piti Garcia, Copyright holder: ExtremaduraVirtual.Net, in all of the others the Metadata lists Author: Picasa. You uploaded these as "Own work". Unless you took the picture that is a copyright violation. I'm really not trying to be hard but these are serious problems that would need to be resolved to keep these images. I'll try to answer any other questions you have.-- Sixflashphoto (talk) 10:20, 26 January 2018 (UTC)

Hello again... 4 months later... sorry for that, I don´t know how Wikimedia works... that is the cause of this problems. Answering your questions Otoño Magico is not a business, it is a Spanish "fiesta" that takes place every November. I am one of the organizers, and I am trying to build the Wikipedia and Wikimedia photo archive. So it is not a business, but a public event. About the copyright, we have contracted Isidro Febles as our official photographer last 4 years (so he took the photos, but we are the owners, I don´t know how to proceed with this...). And where it says that Picasa is the author, is because I edit them with Picasa, but we are the owners aswell. Thanks for your explanations, @sixflashphoto, I don´t know how to proceed with this. I will use photos without the official Otoño Mágico logo to avoid the confussion, but how can I solve the problems with Metadata?

— Preceding unsigned comment added by Diegocurto (talk • contribs) 07:48, 14 May 2018 (UTC)
@Diegocurto: Hello! When I first started I had to spend what now seem like countless hours reading to understand how commons works so I entirely understand. I still, and probably never will learn everything there is to know about commons. It is a huge project. First, I am not an administrator and so I can not undelete any photos for you or look at your previously deleted photos, but an administrator can. A list of them can be found Here:Administrators.
You have no other photos uploaded so I can't see any other photos to use an examples but just going off the Deletion Requests and your questions I have a couple thoughts. If a photo was not taken by you (you didn't click the shutter) it is never "Own work". If it is taken by Isidro Febles you need to clarify the ownership. If by the terms of the contract he did in fact give full ownership and reuse rights over to you, an email from him, something from the domain of ExtremaduraVirtual.Net, saying that explicit fact may do. I'm basing that off of the information in this DR. You can find information used for this process Here:OTRS.
One other issue, on some of the DR's, part of the rational was they were Advert's. Those can not be hosted on commons, as commons is for hosting material of Educational Re-use. But uploading photos of a festival in Spain is entirely within the Scope of commons.
As for the metadata, I believe the problem was the issue of copyright and the author cited in the metadata making ownership uncertain. I may be wrong but I believe that was the issue. I hope I have been helpful. -- Sixflashphoto (talk) 16:03, 14 May 2018 (UTC)

Hello again!. Thank you for the very usefull information you gave me, in a couple of weeks I will make another attempt. You are very kind...and patient with a newby like me.

  • @Kadimina: Hello. You have not yet provided the photo or photos in question. By searching your name I believe you are reffering too these photos. File:PTra.png and File:PTraged.png. If I am wrong please tell me what you are specifically talking about rather then making threats. Those were listed when they were uploaded as "Own Work" but you can clearly see they are Screenshots making them Derivative Works. Without permission with the origional creator of the content these files can not be hosted on commons. If you are not the content creator OTRS permission would be in order. Any further issues with those DR's can be addressed on the DR itself. Please cease leaving threats on my talk page. -- Sixflashphoto (talk) 22:23, 26 February 2018 (UTC)

The tempestEdit

Hi. I proposed the File:6,99Mo-Giorgione 019.jpg as the one that is a valued image in the category:The Tempest by Giorgione. But I am French and this is the first image I propose like that. And you made a comment : "The scope must be linked to a category through". What can I do, please ? Sincerely yours. (Ismoon (talk) 16:06, 4 March 2018 (UTC)).

  • @Ismoon: The scope should connect to a category your photo is in to compare it to other photos in the scope. The scope can be written this way for example; with the Category:The Tempest by Giorgione it can be written {{c|The Tempest by Giorgione}}. I'll be happy to try to answer any other questions. -- Sixflashphoto (talk) 16:42, 4 March 2018 (UTC)
  • @Sixflashphoto:Thank you for your help. Is it correct now ? See : Commons:Valued image candidates/Most valued review candidate list. And : Commons:Valued image candidates/Accademia - La tempesta - Giorgione.jpg and Commons:Valued image candidates. Sincerely. (Ismoon (talk) 11:01, 5 March 2018 (UTC))
@Ismoon: The scope looks good but now that I see the category I didn't know about an existing VI in the same scope. I agree with Ikan, this needs to be put in a Most Valued Review Nomination between the current nomination and the existing VI. It is already set up for that now it appears and you Should be good! -- 17:37, 5 March 2018 (UTC)
@Sixflashphoto: Thank you so much ! (Ismoon (talk) 21:02, 5 March 2018 (UTC))

File:Neenyo in The Fader.jpgEdit

Just to let let you know, "G4" only means something on en-wiki, not all admins here will know that code. You can warn the user with a {{subst:dont recreate|Image:Example.jpg}}, if you like, and use a simple speedy with "Re-uploaded" Ronhjones  (Talk) 19:14, 6 March 2018 (UTC)

  • Thanks! I did not know that. All the best. -- Sixflashphoto (talk) 19:29, 6 March 2018 (UTC)

About Category:Pawan Kumar NREdit

Can I add photos now?PressJayasurya (talk)

  • @PressJayasurya: Hello! Commons has a specific scope. The category is written and referenced like a wikipedia article. If the subject is noteworthy and can be referenced as you have tried to do it very well could belong on wikipedia but not commons. Commons is a free media repository. A category for that subject to hold photos for that subject could be in scope but the notability would need to be established such as if an article was on wikipedia. I see now that you are a new user so I suggest focusing the efforts your putting into this article on a wikipedia page and once that is accepted there will be a clear scope for commons to host images for that in such a category. -- Sixflashphoto (talk) 15:24, 7 March 2018 (UTC)

Ok thank you. So if you give me permission can I add photos?PressJayasurya (talk) 15:39, 7 March 2018 (UTC)

  • @PressJayasurya:This isn't about permission. Once it's in a proper place such as wikipedia then it can have photos. The issue is Commons isn't for wikipedia articles. -- Sixflashphoto (talk) 16:25, 7 March 2018 (UTC)

Ok shall I remove the notice templet to add photos?PressJayasurya (talk) 18:16, 7 March 2018 (UTC)

  • @PressJayasurya:No! Please don't do that. I don't believe you understand. Commons is a free media repository. A place to host free media. You have essentially created a wikipedia article in a category. For what you are trying to do, you should create a proper wikipedia article on wikipedia-not commons. That would be the proper place to host what you created. -- Sixflashphoto (talk) 18:22, 7 March 2018 (UTC)

Ok I'll add photos only.PressJayasurya (talk) 20:21, 7 March 2018 (UTC)

  • @PressJayasurya: No. I'm trying to tell you that it will be deleted on commons and you should recreate it on a wikipedia page if it is notable. -- Sixflashphoto (talk) 20:23, 7 March 2018 (UTC)

Hi, i´m Buchofant. I´m new here and don´t really knows how things work here. I saw that you suggest to delete two of my foto uploads i wanted to use for my first wiki-Article. Help me to use pictures the right way, ...thank you,

  • @Buchofant:Hello! I prefer all new topics start at the bottom to there is some order so I moved this down. In the future it is helpful to link what photo you are talking about. I looked at your profile. Did you take the pictures? If you did and they are used in an article they would be in scope. If you didn't the pictures Commons would need to be notified through OTRS that it can be released under a free license from the photographer. I entirely understand what it was like to be new so if I can help you I will try. -- Sixflashphoto (talk) 18:11, 20 March 2018 (UTC)

Hi, thanks for the review and support of this image. Why would you like to have the RAW file? I could find out someway to send it to you. Cheers --Wolfgang Moroder (talk) 14:53, 15 July 2018 (UTC)

  • Oh that would be so nice! I've only ever really been able to pixel peep one RAW from an X1D and never one that I could be sure was shot in real world conditions. I'd love to see the raw but it's my understanding they can be around 220Mb sometimes a bit higher. Storage size isn't an issue for me but I don't know what the easiest way of transferring that. If you're willing to share it then however would be easiest for you is alright by me. -- Sixflashphoto (talk) 15:02, 15 July 2018 (UTC)
@Moroder: Just thought about it a bit more and you can try emailing it to me, Sixflashphoto @ and see if that works. -- Sixflashphoto (talk) 16:03, 15 July 2018 (UTC)
I sent you a mail with the requested file. Cheers--Wolfgang Moroder (talk) 11:44, 18 July 2018 (UTC)

Round 2 of Picture of the Year 2017 is open!Edit

You are receiving this message because you voted in R1 of the 2017 Picture of the Year contest, but not yet in R2.

Dear Sixflashphoto,

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the second round of the 2017 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the twelfth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2017) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year were entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.

There are two total rounds of voting. In the first round, you voted for as many images as you liked. In Round 1, there were 1475 candidate images. There are 58 finalists in Round 2, comprised of the top 30 overall as well as the top 2 from each sub-category.

In the final round, you may vote for a maximum of three images. The image with the most votes will become the Picture of the Year 2017.

Round 2 will end on 22 July 2018, 23:59 UTC.

I never have an issue with someone giving me a nudge to look at something. One I can support, one will probably go though as undecided and one I have a couple questions. You can always renominate an undecided or opposed image later if you feel it's justified such as licensing issues worked out. Take care, -- Sixflashphoto (talk) 15:41, 2 September 2018 (UTC)

Welcome, Dear Filemover!Edit

Hi Sixflashphoto, you're now a filemover. When moving files please respect the following advice:

  • Use the CommonsDelinker link in the {{rename}} template to order a bot to replace all ocurrences of the old title with the new one. Or, if there was no rename-request, please use the Move & Replace-tab.
  • Please do not tag redirects as {{speedy}}. Other projects, including those using InstantCommons, might be using the file even though they don't show up in the global usage. Deleting the redirects would break their file references.
  • Please know and follow the file rename guidelines.

Wiki Loves Monuments in the United States – Back for 2018!Edit

This user participated in Wiki Loves Monuments 2018.

Want to show your participation in Wiki Loves Monuments 2018? Add {{User Wiki Loves Monuments 2018}} to your userpage!

Hello! Last year you contributed to Wiki Loves Monuments 2017 in the United States. Thanks to people like you it was a great success, with over 1,400 people contributing over 8,000 photos of cultural and historic sites from all over the country. Hundreds of these photos now help illustrate Wikipedia articles, improving our open knowledge about United States history, culture, and heritage.

I'm pleased to say that we're back this year with Wiki Loves Monuments 2018 in the United States, and I'd like to welcome you to participate once again in the event. Check out our updated event page for more information. The event runs similar to last year with some small but exciting changes: improved state guides, an interactive map, and a larger prize pool! Like last year, you'll be able to upload your photos of any registered historical site in the United States through the end of September (even if the photos were taken before this month).

Once again, thank you for participating in Wiki Loves Monuments 2017, and we hope to see you again in this year's event! If you'd like to respond to this message directly, please do so on on my talk page. ~Kevin Payravi (talk) 11:45, 11 September 2018 (UTC)

Hi, have uploaded a new version with tighter crop and the sundial in focus. Please feel free to re-evaluate if necessary. Cheers. Rodhullandemu (talk) 18:09, 17 September 2018 (UTC)

@Rodhullandemu: Wow, nicely done. I'm still a support vote. Take care -- Sixflashphoto (talk) 18:14, 17 September 2018 (UTC)

Potential use of New Albany/ Columbus photos in bookEdit

Hello, I came across your work while searching for artwork for a book I am writing about the development of New Albany, Ohio. In particular, your photo of the founders' historical marker caught my eye I also found several other of your photos that could be of interest. So, I would like to ask your permission to include a handful of your photos in the book, with proper credit/attribution of course. The book will be published by OSU Press, hopefully in late 2019. Title still to be determined. It will be a coffee table-style book, extensively researched and illustrated. I realize your photos are generously CC licensed, but nonetheless I thought best to reach out and ask your permission.

Thank you, Gideon Fink Shapiro
