Hello URSchmidt,
Thanks for the beautiful pictures you are uploading.
About the categories you put them in:
Please don't put them in many taxon categories.
For example File:Anthracus angusticollis (Peringuey, 1908).png is in Coleoptera, Carabidae, Anthracus, Anthracus angusticollis.
It is clearly too much and Anthracus angusticollis is enough.
Of course, if the species cat does not exist, you can add genus cat+species cat.
Sadly, I will have to go through all you files to clean the categories.
Thanks again and best regards Liné1 (talk) 11:21, 20 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

Diglotta mersa

edit

Excuse me, I wasn't aware that you upload your excellent images not only to Flickr but also to Commons, so I have uploaded File:Diglotta mersa (Haliday, 1837).png by mistake. Greetings, Eissink (talk) 17:11, 2 February 2020 (UTC).Reply

Categories

edit

Hello, when you create a category for a species this category must be contained within one category of one of parent taxa. It must not be a category of itself. Let ma explain you created Category:Pterolophia truncatipennis with the following text [[Category:Pterolophia truncatipennis]] however it should be [[Category:Pterolophia|truncatipennis]], in that way Category:Pterolophia truncatipennis is a subcategory of Category:Pterolophia and "truncatipennis" placed after "|" is a sort key. I fixed it. Regards, Christian Ferrer (talk) 11:34, 2 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

and please check whether a category already exists. I now put a deletion request on category:Carabidae of Hessen, as there already is category:Carabidae of Hesse. Please keep in mind that categories here on commons are preferable in English. There is a similar problem with e.g. category:Coleoptera_of_Hessen, as the name should be category:Coleoptera_of_Hesse instead. And again, there is a loop in your category. A category cannot be categorized by itself. See also what Christian Ferrer told you some time ago above. best regards --Herzi Pinki (talk) 22:01, 15 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

I noticed that you uploaded a file using the name File:Longitarsus melanocephalus (Geer, 1775) female.jpg. A file by this name already existed on Commons. Overwriting an existing file should not be done except when making minor, uncontroversial corrections, so the file has been restored to its previous version. If the file that you attempted to upload is within our project scope and is in the public domain or published under a free license, please upload it again under a different name. Thank you. For more information, please see Commons:Overwriting files.

Thanks for uploading File:Tmesorrhina alpestris bafutensis Durge, 1988.jpg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.

If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.)

If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there.

Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you.

Incorrect species in image file

edit

@URSchmidt This image File:Anthrenus pimpinellae Fabricius, 1775.png is clearly Anthrenus flavipes to me, however it is titled as Anthrenus pimpinellae. Just wanted to let you know of mistake

For now, I'll mark it for rename. Ipscaij (talk) 02:27, 13 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
