Hey I like your Map, Need some help if you're interested edit

Hi. I like the map that you made for the Prevalence of Circumcision Page. One thing that I'd like to point out with your map. I think the color of the US is wrong. According to the page it looks like US should be 79% or below. This is not above 80 %.

Also I need some help with other graphical data if you're interested. Do you think you could help make a map of the neonatal circumcision rates for United States, Canada, and Australia (separated by region within those individual countries?) Also, if you could find any other countries on the page that have differing neonatal circumcision rates by region this could help too.

Thanks,

John

Hi! I just thought I'd let you know that the colors for Minnesota are backwards on both of your _Map of USA by state upperhouse.svg_ and _Map of USA by state lowerhouse.svg_ images – the Minnesota State Senate is actually Democratic (blue), while the Minnesota State House is Republican (red). Adding Subdivisions for the global lgbt rights map edit

Hi AHC300! Great job as usual! Thank you for adding new subdivisions to the global map for LGBT rights. I have a few questions/comments surrounding this good idea.

1. Is there a way that distinctions between national and state/jurisdiction lines could be made clearer? (Perhaps with different colors for borders???)(Or a clearer line width designation in the key) (ie. It is a bit difficult to discern what the lines are in Venezuela if one doesn't know geography and it could appear Afghanistan is multiple countries. China is discernible, though.)

2. Is there a way the newly added lines could be more exact and less "wiggly"?

3. Were the lines from a template or did you draw them? If you did draw them, you did a pretty good job considering the task.

4. Another thing I would like to bring up is under what scenarios are lines drawn if something is federal law vs. local jurisdictional law? For example, the US no longer shows lines on the map because same-sex marriage is recognized and performed federally and nationally; whereas it used to show (some) state lines. A policy question I do not know: Are Afghanistan's laws national or universal based on local jurisdictional authority, or both? Nigeria has a national law but its northern provinces often involve the death penalty but the southern provinces have not. Should Nigeria have all jurisdictions shown?

5. Should we only show jurisdictional lines if there are discrepancies between jurisdictions (such as Venezuela and China) when social movements succeed on the local level (ie. after the first jurisdiction legalizes/etc.)?

Thanks! Have a good day! :)

Decriminalization of same-sex intercourse maps edit

Hi, I noticed you created maps such as File:Decriminalization of same-sex intercourse in Beligum.svg. It would be good to clarify why certain years are taken. For Belgium for example, I suppose 1944-1945 is taken because it was the end of the German occupation; however, that is not even mentioned in the accompanying article. As the criminalization during the Second World War was only a brief period since it had been legal since 1795, 1944-1945 isn't really the best year to take. And visually stressing the distinction between 1944 and 1945 is also unnecessary in that perspective. In short, the decriminalisation of same-sex intercourse is not something that is easily captured in maps. And hence, I am not convinced the added value of these maps, at least for Belgium (and the Netherlands, Luxembourg). What is your view? SPQRobin (talk) 23:53, 23 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!
