Cotejo

Hola Alan, necesito que me ayudes a resolver un asunto que puede tener nexos con Commons:Requests for checkuser/Case/LokomotorasTutorial. Existen dos usuarios https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/DEYATONE y https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/JIUMTUI que han subido imágenes de un libro aduciendo que las fotos están en el dominio público, pero están sacadas de un libro de publicación reciente. Es lioso porque insiste en hacerse títeres globalmente, insiste en subir imágenes en Commons (ver el caso CU) e insiste en editar en Wikipedia en español. Así que necesito una ayuda extra por acá. He revisado algunas fotos aleatoriamente y están en dominio público por su antigüedad. Que se utilicen en un libro nuevo no hace que vuelvan a tener derechos, sería una obra derivada más que clara de un original en dominio público.

Respecto a la relevancia, entran dentro de COM:PS por lo que no puedo borrarlas.

Mañana revisaré todas per esto es lo que te puedo decir de momento, lo mismo el resto que no he mirado son dignas de un borrado.

Te mantengo informado, revisaré a fondo el caso.

You recently helped me rename https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:31_MUNS.jpg-31_MUNS.jpg. I need help changing it so when I add it to different pages it look like this File:31_AMXS.jpg|31 AMXS but with the words File:31_MUNS.jpg|31 MUNS , as of now it looks like this File:31 MUNS.jpg-31 MUNS.jpg|31 MUNS.jpg-31 MUNS. Is there any way to change it?

Alan, would you consider restoring File:Prado Jerusalem.jpg? I came across it while processing speedy deletes. Just as you were deleting it I was converting it into a regular DR instead of handling it as a speedy deletion. The URL offered as evidence of copyvio wasn't a match to the user's photo (it just looked similar since it was taken from roughly the same location). Ambas las habíamos subido a Wikimedia Commons hacia el 6 de octubre de 2014 y vemos que no lo hicimos correctamente. Hemos estado mirando la página COM:OTRS y no sabemos exactamente cuál es el procedimiento para reponer ambas imágenes. El asunto es que es necesario un permiso formal por escrito que garantice que el propietario de los derechos está conforme con que sea libre.

El trámite es muy fácil: Se trata de enviar un email a permissions-commons@wikimedia.org desde una cuenta de correo corporativo que nos garantice su veracidad indicando que las imágenes X, Y y Z serán liberadas al dominio público, que se acepta que este tipo de licencias no son revocables y que son de aplicación global.

Una vez enviado me podría avisar aquí mismo indicándome el número de ticket asignado o el email que lo envía y procedo a tramitarlo y restaurar las imágenes.

Assistance sought with deleted file

Hi Alan, I'm after your help with a file you apparently deleted. The file is "File:World crude discovery production U-2200Gb LaherrereMar2015.jpg". When I put the file on the page, I had contacted the author and forwarded an email giving his permission to the Permissions email address Ticket:2015110810001766. I then marked the file with an OTRS pending tag. So, I was surprised to see that the file had been deleted. My attempts to contact the Permission people met with no reply. Recién estoy dando mis primeros pasos y, en relación a la carga de archivos, no han sido felices. No me justifico, no saber como hacerlo no me da derecho a hacerlo, pero si pido tu comprensión. Hace unos días pedí que se borraran, pero parece que tampoco lo pedí a quien podía hacerlo, así que simplemente estoy esperando el tiempo para que se borren automáticamente. Si puedes hacer algo al respecto te pido que borres todos los archivos que subí. Si bien los obtuve de sitios públicos y sin derecho de autor exigible, tienes razón no supe como demostrarlo. Removal of images in Category:Street signs in Faenza

Good evening,

Some time ago I uploaded six pictures of ceramic (maioica) street signs of Faenza (Italy; the town that gave its name to fayence). As there is no Freedom of Panorama in Italy I contacted the authorities and received a letter from the mayor, dott. Giovanni Malpezzi, who said that not only the city had no objections to but felt honored by the publication of the images ("non solo questa Amministrazione non ha obiezioni in merito ma La ringrazia per l'iniziativa che fa onore alla nostra città e contribuisce a valorizzarne l'immagine").

I sent this letter to permissions-commons-it@wikimedia.org on 2015-09-29 but the e-mail bounced, so I sent it to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org the same day, mentioning that it was in Italian. In response I got the ticket number 2015092910023985.

As nothing seemed to happen I sent the message again, approximately one day ago, and received the ticket number 2015120710026249. This time something happened; you deleted two out of the six images (I suppose it was by pure coincidence). All the time I never was contacted or notified. I looked for a formal way to mention the ticket numbers in the image descriptions but there doesn't seem to be one for the uploader.

I would appreciate if you could tell me what I, in retrospect, could have done better or ought to have done. No hurry of course.

Caso curioso, teóricamente no se debería poder ya que lo que cuenta en este caso son los derechos que se generan al sacar la foto y dudo que tengan dicha antigüedad. No obstante parece que existe una tendencia a permitir este tipo de fotos aunque las políticas (com:DW creo que habla de esto) y las respectivas Leyes digan que se violan los derechos de autor.

En resumen: Realmente esa foto debería ser borrada, pero... tú decides.

Removal of pictures in 'Category:WiBrugherio images' with OTRS pending

Hello Alan, sorry but I have to ask you why did you remove the pictures in this category without giving us any notice? The images were taken by people in the Municipality of Brugherio and are owned by the Municipality of Brugherio, which has given its permission to use them on Wikicommons (you can see letter from the mayor of the town that I sent to Wikicommns by e-mail and that I can resend). I followed the steps listed on Wikicommons to ask for a OTRS ticket, sending e-mails to <permissions-commons@wikimedia.org> but, aside from an automatic confirmation of proper reception of messages, I never received any other response. Our GLAM project involves the enrichment of Wikicommons databases, then I would be grateful if you would tell me how can we do to fix this problem. @Labaici: Commons can't keep a pictures without acepted permission by our OTRS for so long. Don't worry, when the emails are processed by an OTRS agent, all photos will be restored. Keep in mind that there is considerable delay in permission queues.

Deletion of File:Pomfret School Clark Chapel Carols 2009.jpg

I posted this photo and received WP notice that I needed to supply a release form from Pomfret School, the rights holder. I did so. I asked the school's archivist to fill out a standard Wikipedia release form, but she felt she did not have authority and so sent the request on to the Director of Communications, who then returned the release and signed. I forwarded that release to Wikipedia as requested. The photo has since been deleted. Please advise why the release form was not satisfactory. Here is the release as received by me from

There's a problem with licences in files uploaded by this user [2]. He seems to be Spaniard, as he uploaded these files to illustrate an article on Spanish wiki -- and he seems to be a member of a Schull/Schüll (?) family. Maybe these files can stay on Commons -- it depends on the publication date and on the photographer. But they need other licences or an OTRS ticket, I suppose. I'm not an expert in Spanish copyrights... Can you explain this issue with the uploader, please? I would be very grateful. Wieralee (talk) 21:21, 13 December 2015 (UTC)

As I wrote to Wieralee (see his talk page), the uploader seems to be the son (File:Pierre schull1.jpg, "foto de mi padre difunto", see also here) who is born later than the 1950s/1960s photos have been taken. He can only have taken the photo File:Pierre Schull, Madrid.jpg himself (but that's not sure anymore after all), all other author and source informations are wrong (and the date informations also, but I've removed or corrected them already). It seems to be a mixture of family photos (where the photographer is another person than the uploader and than his father who is on the photos, File:Pierre Schull Boda 1964-1.jpg) and photos from wherever with logos like "VEGA" (File:Pierre Schull, toreando.jpg) or "Villar" (i.e. File:Pierre Schull, torero, 1957.jpg, File:Pierre schull 7.jpg) or "Photo Dumulin" (File:Pierre Schull 5.jpg), and some have signatures of people (File:Pierre Schull, torero 1.jpg, File:Pierre Schull en Espagne.jpg). Hi Alan, can you please restore File:Seidensticker3 Storebild Köln.jpg and the other photos the user has uploaded? There is a valid permission in ticket:2015102210010294. Shouldn't there be a period of seven days before uploads are deleted? This way of proceeding makes it very hard to let users upload photos by third parties. In this case, the user did everything right by sending proper permission letters to OTRS before uploading and is now completely confused due to the deletion.
