Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~. To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg. You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account. There are several tools to upload files. Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful. Made a mistake? Do you want to have a file renamed or moved? Use the move link and wait for an authorized user to rename it. Do you want to have your recently uploaded picture removed? Tag it as {{speedy|reason here}}. For more information read the deletion guidelines.

Pictures from Seimas

Hi, you added a picture of [File:Speaker Viktoras Pranckietis.jpg] stating that pictures from lrs.lt are released under GNU license. What is the basis for that? The website claims copyright. Hello, pictures taken by official Seimas (or other Lithuanian government institution) photographer holds no copyright, except for commercial purposes. --Blowwhite1 (talk) 10:17, 28 November 2016 (UTC)

Hi again. What is your evidence for that? The copyright notice on Seimas website says "Nuotraukos: publikuojant ar platinant Seimo kanceliarijos nuotraukas ir audiovizualinę medžiagą būtina gauti Seimo kanceliarijos sutikimą" (I assume you can read Lithuanian). That is a copyright claim and is not compatible with CC license. Also, there is nothing in the copyright law, that I can see, that excludes government photos from copyright (unlike, for example, in the US, where government photos are in the public domain). I would really like to be wrong on this one, because there are a lot of useful stuff on that website, but I don't think the license allows their use. Hey. Well in this case I can contact Seimas Kalceliarija by email in order to ask permission to use this photo. And if I get no or negative respond I will delete this photo. --Blowwhite1 (talk) 22:02, 29 November 2016 (UTC)

It's possible to do it that way. One thing to note, however, is that they need to allow it to be sued under a license that allows commercial use, as non-commercial use pictures are not allowed on Wikimedia Commons.
