They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy (Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content). You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold when contributing and assume good faith when interacting with others. This is a wiki. You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump.

Goodies, tips, and tricks Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your graphic abilities. You can find the files you have uploaded in your Uploads. Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~. To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg. You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account. There are several tools to upload files. Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful. Made a mistake? Do you want to have a file renamed or moved? Use the move link and wait for an authorized user to rename it. Do you want to have your recently uploaded picture removed? Tag it as {{speedy|reason here}}. For more information read the deletion guidelines.

Please do not overwrite files

I noticed that you uploaded a file using the name File:SP MP evidence 2.png. A file by this name already existed on Commons. Overwriting an existing file should not be done except when making minor, uncontroversial corrections, so the file has been restored to its previous version. If the file that you attempted to upload is within our project scope and is in the public domain or published under a free license, please upload it again under a different name. Thank you. It's a file I uploaded from a Discord interaction I had a while aog. I do not want them to be publicly dispalyed, hence why I reverted the file to other work I did. Is it possible for it to be deleted? Davomme (talk) 14:51, 29 April 2023 (UTC)

I believe this photograph shouldn't be deleted, however if I am wrong please do correct me. I understand self-published sources such as Facebook are generally discouraged; however, I believe that this is an exception. Due to the limited amount of information on this unit, since it was recently created in Ukraine - the availability of primary sources is limited; therefore, the Facebook page has been used on the page as well to source some information.

The photograph in question originates from this Facebook page, which is the official page of this specific Ukrainian brigade, and can be somewhat considered as an official source as the page is directly managed by the unit itself. This photograph has not appeared anywhere else, as reverse image search shows no results or matches to other websites that can source this photograph. As far as I know, this can be somewhat considered as a primary source. I have appropriately credited the image in compliance with the guidelines, and the image is accurately credited and attributed to said Ukrainian unit on Facebook. Given the limited availability of such images provided by these Ukrainian units, and them not utilising other sources such as Telegram, Twitter, or even an official Website - I believe that this image should remain as it is arguably a primary source and gives users access to inaccessible visual content related to the new series of newly created Ukrainian Mechanised Brigades.

Again, if I am wrong then please do correct me. I am more than willing to cooperate and address this isue, and ensure I am in compliance with the guidelines. Thank you. Davomme (talk) 12:33, 5 January 2024 (UTC)

Hello! I'm just gonna reply to this since I was about to report one of your images. These images are not getting reported because of their source being Facebook but because they are probably copyright violations. Images on Wikimedia Commons has to be under a free license (or in the public domain), see Commons:Licensing for more information. Giving credit to the original source is not good enough. Commons:Ukraine is also worth a look. EdTre (talk) 21:30, 13 January 2024 (UTC)

That is what this user said about my images, which is a poor claim. Nevertheless the obscure and unknown copyright usage is fair grounds for the report or removal of photos, this other user simply said that Facebook was used as a source and was the reason why they reported it.
