Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]

[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Salut Radu! Pentru perioada interbelica este uzual sa folosim denumirile respective, altfel am face o proiectie din prezent inspre trecut. Concret, daca denumirea de "Cluj-Napoca" a fost introdusa dupa 1974, atunci nu o putem retroproiecta in perioada interbelica. Acelasi lucru este valabil pentru Turnu Severin. In aceasta ordine de idei, daca nu ti-e greu, te rog sa corectezi File:RomaniaBorderHistoryAnnimation 1859-2010.gif. Multumesc! --Mihai Andrei (talk) 14:06, 8 September 2010 (UTC)

Salut Andrei! În primul rînd eu doar am făcut undo la gif-ul pe care îl stricaseși (deci nici vorbă de vreo corectură); în al doilea rînd mi s-a părut o idee nu tocmai fericită să faci o modificare (total nesemnificativă) de la Cluj-Napoca la Cluj. Chestia cu „proiecția” sînt convins că nici tu nu o crezi (și mai fac un pariu: ești din Cluj-Napoca!), altfel ai fi urmărit exact denumirile oficiale din momentul corespunzător frame-ului pentru toate orașele, nu numai pentru cazul Clujului. Dacă tot ai modificat undeva, trebuia să modifici și în celelate părți (de exemplu Târgoviște -> Tîrgoviște, deși am vaga impresie că și acum e corect cu î, dar în perioada interbelică era cu â).

Pot înțelege schimbarea făcută de tine dacă la fiecare frame din imagine pui denumire oficială a orașului din acel moment (în 1859, de exemplu Bucureștiul era Bucuresci, Galațiul Galaț șamd), eventual la Cluj pui Kolozsvar, la Timișoara Temesvar că erau parte din imperiul Austro-Ungar etc. (în paranteză punînd denumirea românească corespondentă). --Radu Borza (talk) 22:31, 8 September 2010 (UTC)

Salut Andrei, Iti multumesc mult pentru datele recensamantului din 1930 pe care le-ai postat pe wikipedia. Pentru ca tocmai ma ocup de Bucovina sper sa nu te superi daca te rog ca urmatoarele date pe care le postezi sa fie pentru Campulung si Radauti (datele pt confesiuni) sigur in masura in care poti tine cont de aceasta rugaminte.Colinspancev (talk) 14:21, 3 June 2011 (UTC)
