Thank you
editHello Stratoswift,
thanks a lot for identifying many automobiles on this picture: File:Parking lot, Chicago, IL 8a32773a original.jpg Please note that it is also possible to make annotations on photographs, see this picture for example: File:" 12 - ITALY - Fiat Group Automobiles Blumenbeet.jpg. Such annotations can be added by clicking on a button shown below the image. Of course there is also a link to a help page there. Annotations are especially helpful when many similar subjects are shown on a photograph.
Just in case: Because you appear to be a new editor you may not know, that image categorization on Commons is done in a very different way compared to other image databases such as flickr or panoramio. On these websites categories are used as "tags". On Commons the category system is a hierarchic, logically based structure, see Commons:Categories, especially Com:Overcat which is not known by many newbies. It is recommended not to add to many categories to an image. Minor details shouldn't be categorized because the category system would fill up and would become unusable for viewers. Applied to the Chicago image above it might be sufficient to use fewer categories (if possible) and mark the full details with annotations.
Thanks again and best regards. --Zaccarias (talk) 18:49, 26 August 2017 (UTC)

AM085
editIs there something different about the 'AM085' series from the general 'AM08' train series?Smiley.toerist (talk) 10:19, 19 July 2018 (UTC)
The AM08.5 can work on both 3Kv DC and 25Kv AC as well while the other AM 08 have only one pantograph and can only run with 3Kv DC. Also, the AM08.5 are heavier due to the additional equipment. It's sometimes said that this sub-series could be refitted with a fourth trailer in the near future but, currently, they all have the same number of carriages.
Buses 2019
editI see you upload bus images. There are some bus images in Category:Trams in Antwerp, 2019-07-23. I have been moving images to the correct tram type categories, but could you do some bus categorisations?Smiley.toerist (talk) 12:50, 11 January 2020 (UTC)
- Hello, I'm currently adding bus categories to the pictures and I'll probably create some Commons categories today. These are good pictures. If you spot more De Lijn / TEC old Van Hool buses like the one on do not hesitate to add pictures on Commons, these old buses are disappearing quickly from Belgian roads. Feel free to visit this incredible bus database [[1]] --Stratoswift (talk) 13:37, 11 January 2020 (UTC)
- I agree that the category 'Buses in Brussels' can be removed, but than the replacement category 'Brussels bus line 84' needs to exist. (not be red-linked). I created the category.Smiley.toerist (talk) 19:49, 16 January 2020 (UTC)

This media may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading File:VW Multivan T7 Hybrid, Ixelles.JPG. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.
If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.) If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there. Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you. |

Typos of image names
editHi, thank you for correcting all those typos in image titles! Hang on! Cheers, Mosbatho (talk) 19:19, 4 February 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you too, I've just stumbled upon 200+ images with "Higway" in their titles. Btw, is there a tool I could use to modify several Summary at once. This could be useful for this lot as well as a lot of approx. 150 pictures which have the correct spelling in their titles but contain "Anwerpen" instead of "Antwerpen" in the filedesc. Greetings --Stratoswift (talk) 21:40, 4 February 2023 (UTC)
Double images
editExactly identical images can be removed, of course. Most time effective way is to mark the newest images with {{duplicate|name of preferred image.jpg}}. All usage will then be transferred to the other image in the process. Vysotsky (talk) 14:00, 17 February 2023 (UTC)

Wrong categorization
editPlease be guided by Google Maps / Google Street View before adding categories to assorted road images by Judgefloro (talk · contribs). For example, File:09943jfPan-Philippine MacArthur Highway Malolos Plaridel Roadsfvf 06.jpg does not depict w:en:MacArthur Highway, but rather depicts a different road that the Philippine government strangely names as "Bigaa-Plaridel via Bulacan and Malolos Road". For most part don't rely on the file names of Judgefloro's images in categorizations. JWilz12345 (Talk|Contrib's.) 16:24, 2 August 2023 (UTC)
How to ask for speedy-delete of an empty category
editEnglish · français
When you want to ask for speedy-delete of an empty category, best practice is to mark it with {{SD|C2}} if it would be OK to re-create it in the future, given that appropriate content becomes available or {{SD|C1}} if it is an inappropriate category name that should not be reused. In particular, this is better practice than just blanking the category page, as you did at Category:Trains at Leuven station. ("C1" and "C2" come from Commons:Criteria for speedy deletion).
