Hello, Sylwia Ufnalska!

Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

Thank you for participating in Wiki Loves Monuments 2012!

Dear Sylwia Ufnalska,
Thank you for contributing to Wiki Loves Monuments 2012, and for sharing your pictures with the whole world!

Thanks to the participation of people like you, the contest gathered more than 350,000 pictures of cultural heritage objects from 36 countries around the world, becoming the largest photography competition to have ever taken place.

You can find all your pictures in your upload log, and are of course very welcome to keep uploading images and help develop Wikimedia Commons, even though you will not be able to win more prizes (just yet).

If you'd like to start editing relevant Wikipedia articles and share your knowledge with other people, please go to the Wikipedia Welcome page for more information, guidance, and help.

To make future contests even more successful than this year, we would like to invite you to share your experiences with us in a short survey. Please fill in this short survey in your own language, and help us learn what you liked and didn't like about Wiki Loves Monuments 2012.

Kind regards,

the Wiki Loves Monuments team

Re:Schody edit

File:Immunity in prevention and early treatment of COVID-19 and flu - version3.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

I've noticed this message today, when trying to upload an image. Please unblock my account, as I did not disseminate any disinformation in fact. I'm an experienced science translator and editor (MSc in Biology and MA in English Philology) and in March I uploaded important infographics about simple ways to enhance our immunity and initial tratment of COVID-19. The infographics were based on discussions with science editors. medical professors, and general practitioners. One of those posters was officially published in March by Prof. Izet Masic et al. (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7219724/). It's a great pity that my infographics were hastily removed from Commons, as they could have saved many lives worldwide.Sylwia Ufnalska (talk) 08:44, 20 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

Request to limit my block to COVID-19-related issues edit

Unblock request declined

This blocked user asked to be unblocked, but one or more administrators has reviewed and declined this request. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked. Other administrators can also review this block, but should not override the decision without discussion.

Request reason: "My intention was not to disinform, so please limit the block to the topic of COVID-19"
Decline reason: "Blocks are preventative, not punitive. The block does not relate to your intention ("My intention was not to disinform") but instead seeks to prevent disruptive contributions whatever their motivation. This is also the Commons, not en.wiki. We do not have arbcom, or related apparatuses to enforce, or effectively enforce, a topic ban on issues with which you apparently struggle. You alone must demonstrate the necessary self-control; indeed, our criteria for unblocking include "a credible commitment to discontinue" the behaviour for which you were blocked. Your current request does not even acknowledge the issue, our other criterion, and troublingly implies you require external compulsion to refrain from inappropriate contributions. This is not acceptable. If you wish to be unblocked, you will need to both acknowledge the issue and commit to discontinue (in a sense, a self-enforced topic ban.) Feel free to post a new request if and when you are able to meet those criteria. Эlcobbola talk 15:22, 23 October 2020 (UTC)"Reply

Wikimedia Commons does not accept derivative works of non-free works such as File:Koronka ku czci Ducha Świętego i Jego siedmiu darów.jpg. This file may be deleted.
A file that you have uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, File:Pneumatophora icon.jpg, is a derivative work, containing an "image within an image". Examples of such works would include a photograph of a sculpture, a scan of a magazine cover, or a map that has been altered from the original. In each of these cases, the rights of the creator of the original must be considered, as well as those of the creator of the derivative work.

While the description page states who made this derivative work, it currently doesn't specify who created the original work, so the overall copyright status is unclear. If you did not create the original work depicted in this image, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright.

Please edit the file description and add the missing information, or the file may be deleted. If you created the original content yourself, enter this information as the source. If someone else created the content, the source should be the address to the web page where you found it, the name and ISBN of the book you scanned it from, or similar. You should also name the author, provide verifiable information to show that the content is in the public domain or has been published under a free license by its author, and add an appropriate template identifying the public domain or licensing status, if you have not already done so. Please add the required information for this and other files you have uploaded before adding more files. If you need assistance, please ask at the help desk. Thank you!
