--Didym (talk) 14:00, 2 January 2018 (UTC)

File talk:Waldmops 3.JPG

File talk:Waldmops 3.JPG has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file talk, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Photos

I do not understand why the photographs I have uploaded to the Wikipedia page "Davide Grassi (writer)" are deleted. These are photographs taken by me or by friends who do not infringe any copyright. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Davide Riccardo Giuseppe Grassi (talk • contribs) 13:22, 5 January 2018‎ (UTC)

As those photos have been published before your upload on Commons, this need to be confirmed via OTRS. --Didym (talk) 17:55, 5 January 2018 (UTC)

--Didym (talk) 17:09, 6 January 2018 (UTC)

Norbert Ferré

Hello (and sorry for my english...)

I'm the author of the article "Norbert Ferré". I'm really ssorry if i am clumsy, i m new in Wikipedia... I don"t understand your message. All the pictures are mine. For example, for your last message, you wont find File:Pierre Brahma autographe.jpg or Plaque commémorative à Norbert Ferré - Tamarite .jpg anywhere on the net but wiki, because this pictures are only in my own laptop and nowhere else : they are MY pictures, i made it myself, so i do what i want with it, and if i want to put it in wiki, i can, no ?

Sincerely yours,

--Lan-ce-lot, le seul avec des tirets. (talk) 09:03, 27 January 2018 (UTC)

Really? File:Plaque commémorative à Norbert Ferré - Tamarite .jpg is available here. If you are the author of those pictures, you need to confirm this via OTRS. Also, you should leave your comments on the deletion request page. --Didym (talk) 14:14, 27 January 2018 (UTC)

File:2017 VR landscape.jpg is back, which you deleted not long ago. Chris857 (talk) 19:47, 30 January 2018 (UTC)

Commons:Deletion requests/File:VictoriaStreet1957.jpg

This is a great pity because the photo is in its way historic. (a "one horse town" with its railway straight through the centre). I also suspect it is a mistaken impression received by the requesting editor. Nevertheless I suppose what's done is done. Eddaido (talk) 02:07, 2 February 2018 (UTC)

Unfortunately, copyright doesn't care about how useful an image is. If you are able to find any evidence this image can be freely licensed, we can restore it. --Didym (talk) 02:12, 2 February 2018 (UTC)
I have tracked down the image and it is safe and in its proper place, here so maybe it is not the important record I thought. That said it could be out of copyright, our institutions are notorious for not telling that to the public. I will find out from Hamilton Heritage. Thanks, Eddaido (talk) 08:48, 2 February 2018 (UTC)
The author was at least active until 1968, so even if he died this year, the image will be copyrighted until January 2019. --Didym (talk) 14:09, 2 February 2018 (UTC)

MediaWiki Help

Hi there! Thanks for reviewing my request for rights here. Do you mind explaining to me more about MediaWiki and its relation to file naming and related subjects as well? I am sorry to trouble you but my mind is blank about MediaWiki. I don't understand the concept of MediaWiki as well. Thanks so much =D Vincent60030 (talk) 04:04, 31 January 2018 (UTC)

Technical restrictions regarding titles (and therefore also file names) are listed on en:Wikipedia:Naming conventions (technical restrictions). Additional policies are explained on Commons:File renaming. --Didym (talk) 19:42, 31 January 2018 (UTC)

profile photo

Hello, I want to give permission for my profile photo to be used by Wikipedia. My profile photo was taken by a photographer who has indeed given me permission for its distribution. In such case, which exact license should I contribute to the profile photo please? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lidasher (talk • contribs) 16:49, 18 February 2018 (UTC)

Usually, the only person that can license an image is the photographer, so you have to ask the photographer to send permission to COM:OTRS according to COM:L. --Didym (talk) 20:42, 18 February 2018 (UTC)

Vielen Dank. --Vsop.de (talk) 18:40, 19 February 2018 (UTC)

Hello

I saw that you don’t see the permission for this file : File:L'amour et la révolution.jpg, but the author explained that the image shows the CC creative Commons permission (bottom right).

Tubamirum (talk) 22:34, 23 February 2018 (UTC)

Well, there is a CC icon, but which license is this? CC0? CC-by? CC-by-SA? With ND or NC? We need a release for a specific license, not just a suggestion this may be licensed under a CC license. --Didym (talk) 22:42, 23 February 2018 (UTC)

Not sure of copyright status of pic

Hi. The file, File:Monday in May 2015.jpg is most likely not free material. Was uploaded by a SPA, for a promotional page on WP. I apparently don't have enough edits on Commons to tag it, so you might want to take a look. While you're at it, there is also File:John Monday 2018.jpg, which was lifted from Facebook. Can't find the copyright terms from FB, so thought I might let someone with a vastly greater knowledge of these ins and outs than I know. Onel5969 (talk) 12:09, 23 February 2018 (UTC)

Both tagged. By the way: you don't need any additional rights or a high number of edits to activate and use the Quick Delete gadget, which is really helpful for tagging copyright violations (or files missing permission). --Didym (talk) 14:46, 23 February 2018 (UTC)
Thanks. Don't do much here, so was unaware. Have added it. And thanks for tagging the two pics. Onel5969 (talk) 21:27, 27 February 2018 (UTC)

Rollback misuse

As per en:WP:ROLLBACK you need to fucking explain why you were reverting .... Don't just hit rollback without bothering to explain!, Back to the issue at hand that link is a legit link .... which if you clicked on it you would've clearly saw. –Davey2010Talk 14:51, 26 February 2018 (UTC)

This indicates the uploader may have permission to upload the file. Also, the file was already tagged as missing permission, so there is no need to speedy it. --Didym (talk) 14:56, 26 February 2018 (UTC)
So why not state that when you reverted ? ..... I'm not a mind reader and obviously didn't check their contribs before adding the template. –Davey2010Talk 19:40, 26 February 2018 (UTC)
In general, I don't see any reason why a file already tagged as missing permission needs a speedy tagging as copyvio. --Didym (talk) 14:41, 27 February 2018 (UTC)

File:FMTV A2.jpg

Hello Didym. I see that in answer to a deletion request by Patrick Rogel you on 25 February deleted this image. I apologise for not being brilliant with Wiki systems but I have failed in all attempts to find out why Patrick Rogel requested deletion. Can you help? Why was it deleted? I can see no reason why, and would like to undelete it if I could. I am happy to discuss why I think it should remain on Wikipedia if required. Thank you in advance, and again I apologise for my lack of in-depth knowledge of Wiki procedures. SurfaceAgentX2Zero--SurfaceAgentX2Zero (talk) 14:31, 27 February 2018 (UTC)

Please read COM:L and COM:OTRS, this was certainly not your own work, so you can't license it under a CC license. --Didym (talk) 14:41, 27 February 2018 (UTC)
Hello Didym. I did not mean to say it was my own work. Did I do that? All the Oshkosh images are free to use on Wikipedia and I source that statement from here - https://oshkoshdefense.com/photo-gallery/?category=Vehicles That should make it useable? --SurfaceAgentX2Zero (talk) 16:21, 27 February 2018 (UTC)
Indeed. Now restored and tagged for license review. If you upload such files in the future, please also make sure to add the license review template. --Didym (talk) 16:40, 27 February 2018 (UTC)
Thank you. I will learn how to do that.--SurfaceAgentX2Zero (talk) 16:56, 27 February 2018 (UTC)

File:Landscape of thylacine pouch young.tif

Hi Didym, you deleted File:Landscape of thylacine pouch young.tif as a copyright violation. From the licensing information given in the source publication (Royal Society Open Science), I was under the impression that all content including images is licensed as CC 4.0 and so should be directly available for Commons use - see licensing notice in the article in question here. As the editor who uploaded the image is both its author and has already licensed it to CC, I assume there's just some procedural issue here - I don't know if they bobbled the upload/attribution process or something. Could you comment? Cheers --Elmidae (talk) 08:53, 6 March 2018 (UTC)

Restored. Please be more careful with giving source and license information, neither the given source nor the license were correct. --Didym (talk) 16:06, 6 March 2018 (UTC)
(note: I wrote this before Didym posted their message above) @Elmidae: Looks like Didym has restored the image. I was the one who originally tagged the image for deletion, so I can explain what happened. When User:DarthGarren uploaded it, they selected the option "This file is my own work." instead of properly attributing it to the authors of that paper and including the correct license. When I was patrolling this image, I noticed that it appeared on another site with different author information, which was enough for me to assume that it was a copyright violation. --IagoQnsi (talk) 16:17, 6 March 2018 (UTC)
Thanks guys, much appreciated. --Elmidae (talk) 09:08, 8 March 2018 (UTC)

Falscher Dateiname

Hallo,

The file on Flickr seems to be from a collection of copyright violations, so you can't upload it on Commons. Also, the Public Domain Mark 1.0 license is usually not acceptable on Commons. --Didym (talk) 19:22, 9 March 2018 (UTC)
you mean all files from Flickr are copyright violations? or this file only? which License is acceptable? if the Public Domain Mark 1.0 license is usually not acceptable on Commons --Sonna.j (talk) 18:38, 12 March 2018 (UTC)
No, not all files from Flickr are copyright violations, but having a look at the user's uploads on Flickr, I seriously doubt those images were created by the uploader himself. A detailed list of accepted licenses is on COM:L, but in general, you can transfer files from Flicker that are licensed with a CC license that does not include NC (no commercial use) or ND (no derivatives). --Didym (talk) 00:22, 13 March 2018 (UTC)

On renaming requests

Hello.

This particular renaming request in question is not "nonsense" as you claim. According to number 3 in section "Which files should be renamed?" in Commons:File renaming it is legitimate.

There is no ban and policy that forbids renaming requests because of typographical errors.

That does not make me a "Grammar Nazi".

Maphobbyist (talk) 18:16, 13 March 2018 (UTC)

And what is the text in the middle of the map? Also, just requesting the rename action again two times after the request was declined is obviously nonsense and even close to vandalism. --Didym (talk) 19:02, 13 March 2018 (UTC)

Lizenz CC BY-NC

--Didym (talk) 15:59, 18 March 2018 (UTC)

How can I be a better help to commons?

Hello. I saw you denied my request for filemover. I am not upset since it isn't a big deal to me. I have been working for about a year nominating a couple thousand copyvios and out of scope images for deletion. I have also done over 4 thousand license reviews. I would like to be a bigger help to commons and want to be better and helping keep it clean of files that are not under a free license. I have since this morning enabled Quick Delete and tagged several of the other photos of trains that were missing permission among the 2 files you found. My question is simple. How can I help commons more? Thank you -- Sixflashphoto (talk) 16:25, 24 March 2018 (UTC)

You are actually already a great help to Commons, so just continue doing what you are already doing. Regarding renaming: if you request 20-30 good renamings within the next month or so (and I know you can do that, you just have to have a closer look at copyright issues), we can grant you the file mover rights. --Didym (talk) 16:50, 24 March 2018 (UTC)
 • Pardon my butting in, but as a recently made filemover I’m curious, having trouble imagining how copyright would come into play regarding file names. Unless it’s about requesting moves without first checking for copyvio, making extra work where a file is doomed to be deleted anyway? Just a general indication or a made-up example would be enough—I don’t mean to rake Sixflashphoto over the coals.—Odysseus1479 (talk) 21:59, 24 March 2018 (UTC)
This is actually about files like File:98IqibLkyak.jpg, File:28577006 10156326269873092 8923654257331910048 n.jpg.jpg (both names generated by some website) or File:Capture d’écran 2018-02-16 à 18.26.37.png (screenshot already mentioned in the name), where the copyright issues are obvious from the file name, but hard to find when renamed. --Didym (talk) 22:59, 24 March 2018 (UTC)

Sorry for bothering you. Thanks again, Miljan Simonović (talk) 23:51, 24 March 2018 (UTC)

Deletion of packaging photos

Hallo didym,

C-Kobold (talk) 17:51, 4 April 2018 (UTC)

C-Kobold (talk) 17:51, 4 April 2018 (UTC)
--Didym (talk) 18:05, 4 April 2018 (UTC)

Declined renaming

Hello Didym! I wonder why you declined the renaming of Christina Lövenstam.jpg when I stated that there was an error in the filename (the name does not have the letter n in it) and I referred to the article about her on sv.wp where it is easy to see the right spelling of the name (and also by looking at the sources of the article if the spelling in the article is not enough). I did read the guidline and I found this error to be pretty obvious, so I don't understand what I did wrong? //Vätte (talk) 22:02, 10 April 2018 (UTC)

The reason for this was criterion 4 in this list. If the copyright problems have been solved, you can rerequest renaming. --Didym (talk) 22:08, 10 April 2018 (UTC)
Thank you for explaining. (When I made the request there was no copyright problem.) All the best! /Vätte (talk) 22:25, 10 April 2018 (UTC)

File La Reine Margot

Dear Didym, The reason of now having to explain and defend myself - I hope you will understand has come to me as a gun shot in the back - because I have logged in with my username Bemit and I am now an old lady, of 82 years old, and indeed it was a long time ago I sent my last images. My existence seems to have been forgotten, and it might be the reason of Wikimedia wanting to delete my photo of my own painting with Reine Margot as subject. The image is a painting I painted in 1996. I believed it is safe and hope that you will find out that it is a mistake to make me an intruder. I also painted the previous images in particular the one before was of Emmanuelle Béart, who is like Adjani a french actress. I live in Switzerland, my name is Hubertine Heijermans, my village is called Saint-Triphon in the Canton de Vaud.My mother language is not french and not english either, as I was born in Amsterdam on 8 february 1936, and moved to Switzerland after getting married to Nils Tellander, who already lived in Lausanne (same area where me and our son now still live). I am sure I used the right username of Bemit and the hidden password. Please try to help and sort out why this can happen. Many thanks for an answer from you, in any case I approve of the fact that Wikpedia and Wikimedia take utmost care of watching for intruders. But directed to me is indeed a mistake and very discouraging for me. awaiting your answer, with kind regards, --Bemit (talk) 21:53, 11 April 2018 (UTC)

As you already noticed, we need proof that you are Hubertine Heijermans and not just an impersonator trying to upload copyright violations. This can be done by sending an email to OTRS. You don't have to send a long and complicated release text, a short message telling them that you are Hubertine Heijermans and you want to upload with the account Bemit should be sufficient. If you need additional help, just tell me. --Didym (talk) 22:17, 11 April 2018 (UTC)
Hi Didym, I just sent a mail with request for Free Licence to OTRS, as you suggested, with thanks, Hubertine Heijermans--Bemit (talk) 00:21, 12 April 2018 (UTC)
To prevent deletion in 7 days, I have added this information to the file page. I expect the email being handled within the next few days. --Didym (talk) 00:30, 12 April 2018 (UTC)

This material can also not be classified as politically incorrect because this material shows that most of humanity is on the same track into perdition. This set of articles gives every human soul a chance to full grace in Christ Jesus, and a hope to be redeemed in spirit. How can anybody have objection to have this published. I have been working at this subject for more than 25 years. I believe writers, producers, and financiers of the movies Matrix and Adjustment Bureau must have had some contact with my materials because in the early days of working on this subject I sent whatever I then knew to about 250 address terminals in the USA. These movies imply that people can be fictional computer produced entities and could be subconsciously tracked and manipulated. Hell is eternal and as shown in this material entails a very long soul decaying process through all the stages and forms of life and inert material. Hell needs to be avoided at all cost and effort. Where ever in the trap-net human beings are stuck they all can still have a good change to get saved from sinking deeper in the net that represents physical reality. I am 100% sure that I tell the truth and that my articles represents what the gods in this late hour of this AGE want humanity to know and understand so that each can decide to take it seriously and take actions to prevent further spiritual decay. I hope you will accept this material for inclusion in your website because you must be the most unbiased entity that I can think of. I left a link to my website because there is much more material not included here to explain those concepts people will not accept readily. Brevity of subject matter in your website is a must. I hope you can include it if you accept the material. This material is just a mere part of the body of all I have written I may include more material at a later date. It will take a lot of pick and chose from the large body of material I have. I will not and cannot accept changes to the material to satisfy your or legal prejudices. If the material is not accepted then so be it but the spiritual responsibility rests fully on your shoulder. I have made more changes to Extend-and-duration.pdf since your note of deletion My sincere thanks for your attention

Panoramafreiheit in Georgien

Hallo Didym

File:William- Zippererstrasse 54 Stefan Helmbrecht.jpg

Groupsixty (talk) 05:52, 10 June 2018 (UTC)

File:Brian Wayy 2016.jpg

Hi. Not sure about this one. The file claims it is "own work", but it appears to be a cropped shot taken from this article in the WaPo: https://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/exclusive-music-video-premiere-wrong-sizzling_us_598c869fe4b08a4c247f28e1. Onel5969 (talk) 10:55, 19 July 2018 (UTC)

The description even mentions it is a press shoot, so the authorship should be confirmed via OTRS. I have now tagged the file accordingly. --Didym (talk) 13:21, 19 July 2018 (UTC)

Problem renaming files

Hello! I hope you are well. I have been requesting renaming of files. I've reversed myself with the guidelines and I believe I have not repeted my previous errors. However as I am adding renaming templates an odd thing is happening. It is not showing my user information on the template. It does show it correctly in preview and this has been happening for more then a week. File:True colors... (1285778860).jpg and File:Smack down... (412701634).jpg are good examples. Am I doing something wrong? Take care, -- Sixflashphoto (talk) 16:52, 26 July 2018 (UTC)

As far as I can see, your requests are correct. However, you can use the parameter "user" in Rename, this could fix the problem. --Didym (talk) 21:06, 2 August 2018 (UTC)
Perhaps i'm still missing something. I've tried the template a couple different ways. It will continue to look fine on the preview but does not display my user name. Perhaps everything is fine and it simple needs the cash refreshed (although Ctrl+F5 doesn't seem to help). File:ASJ DSC 0483 (8834680732).jpg and File:ASJ DSC 0260 (9446485081).jpg are good examples. I only ask because if I'm doing something wrong i'd like to know so I can fix it but it is reassuring that they look fine in the Move log. -- Sixflashphoto (talk) 17:43, 3 August 2018 (UTC)
This is how it displays: It has been suggested by {} (talk · contributions · Number of edits · Global account information) that this media object be renamed to “File:DeltaConnection CRJ200 (9449263518).jpg” or another more suitable name for the following reason:

-- Sixflashphoto (talk) 17:44, 3 August 2018 (UTC)

I don't see this mess, but maybe Perhelion can explain what happened and solve the problem. The {} means you did not give a reason in addition to criterion 2, so parameter 3 is missing (see also Template talk:Rename#Unnamed parameter 3). --Didym (talk) 20:56, 3 August 2018 (UTC)
It looks like a parsing problem (maybe due limitation exceeding) on certain circumstances. Although I also cannot reproduce the problem with the examples. But the template has abnormal high expansion depth 36/40. For example COM:T and COM:Image_copyright_tags_visual have both max only 28/40. I've revealed Template:Str rightc for one of the most expensive functions. So I'll replace this after some tests with a Lua function, which is the first thing we should try. -- User: Perhelion 05:04, 4 August 2018 (UTC)
Done I improved/replaced also the expensive Template:User21. The template has now:
- Preprocessor visited node count	5,537/1,000,000
- Post-expand include size	120,870/2,097,152 bytes
- Template argument size	22,270/2,097,152 bytes
- Highest expansion depth	31/40
+ Preprocessor visited node count	2,636/1,000,000
+ Post-expand include size	107,300/2,097,152 bytes
+ Template argument size	14,388/2,097,152 bytes
+ Highest expansion depth	21/40

@Perhelion: It still is acting wierd. Two examples from this morning File:ASJ DSC 0147 (9446240457).jpg and File:ASJ DSC 0147 (9446240457).jpg. Using WestJet C-GWBT (9536000672).ext results in:

So it has changed but still is acting odd. -- Sixflashphoto (talk) 14:11, 4 August 2018 (UTC)
@Sixflashphoto: Oh* It shows only in preview or first visit? I made this change which should fix the not working fallback REVISIONUSER. Which I also don't know why it not always works. PS: You can use a tool link (which should be active for every common user) for automatic insertion of the rename request (which inserts your name for sure). Have you one? -- User: Perhelion 14:30, 4 August 2018 (UTC)
@Perhelion: It displays properly in preview but once I publish changes and make the edits then I see the broken display. File:ASJ DSC 0427 (8834381322).jpg just did the same thing. As to the tool link, if you are referring to the Move function at the top which can also be opened by alt+shift+m, yes I have that and yes that works. I don't generally use that but I did test that the other day and it still works. I can't explain it but I'm certainly willing to do what I can to help anyone figure it out. -- Sixflashphoto (talk) 14:42, 4 August 2018 (UTC)
File:ASJ DSC 0428 (8834386466).jpg which I just asked to be moved with WestJet C-GWJU (8834386466).ext "It now says It has been suggested by an unknown person that this media object be renamed to “File:WestJet C-GWJU (8834386466).jpg” or another more suitable name for the following reason:" it's changed to unknown person now. -- Sixflashphoto (talk) 14:51, 4 August 2018 (UTC)
Interesting, the de version is fine, while the en version doesn't display your username. --Didym (talk) 16:48, 4 August 2018 (UTC)
I see his name always, but the only difference is a <div class="mw-translate-fuzzy"> element from FuzzyBot. I fixed the fallback so it shows "unknown person" instead of {}. @Didym: so you can confirm this fail? PS: I can now confirm this too, only if I logout and set to English. -- User: Perhelion 17:20, 4 August 2018 (UTC)
It is still continuing for me File:DL461 (29220822940).jpg. It's very interesting that it's language specific. On the plus side this is giving me a lot of familiarity with file moving. -- Sixflashphoto (talk) 20:46, 4 August 2018 (UTC)
Can we collect the facts for this curious bug?
 1. It appears only in English (default language)?
 2. It appears only for some user-groups/setting (I have only seen it as non-admin)?
 3. It appears only for some files? If this is true, we need to describe the context.
 4. It appears not on preview?
Can you confirm this? I'm at the end with my idea, so another expert should be informed. -- User: Perhelion 07:38, 8 August 2018 (UTC)
Another one did the same thing this morning File:ColumbusOH.JPG. Not the most urgent file in need to be renamed but I wanted to test. It seems to happen with every file I attempt to rename. Works in preview but not when the edits are published. I am at anyone's disposal to try anything to help. -- Sixflashphoto (talk) 15:56, 8 August 2018 (UTC)

Could you review my move log please

I would appreciate it if you could review my move log over the past several months and see if you have any objections if I was to re-apply for filemover at sometime in the future. I would never feel comfortable asking for the right without coming to you first as you have guided me in the correct direction in the past. A second question, do you feel File:Gardenplant1.JPG qualifies as a meaningless or ambiguous name? It seemed obvious to me at first (yes) but then I started to question myself. Thank you and take care, -- Sixflashphoto (talk) 01:19, 7 September 2018 (UTC)

Looks good, but you don't have to re-apply. File:Gardenplant1.JPG is not completely meaningless, but quite ambiguous. When the file was uploaded without identification of the plant, it was a reasonable name, but now renaming makes sense. --Didym (talk) 11:56, 7 September 2018 (UTC)
I apreciate your confidence. I didn't expect that but frankly I'm glad you are the one who approved me. Other then that I'm still at a loss for words other then thank you. The reasoning you gave in relation to that file makes sense and helped me define what the line for ambiguous is. Thank you again, -- Sixflashphoto (talk) 16:20, 7 September 2018 (UTC)

Images for artist Bill Miller

Hi Didym, I did some work on the article about Bill Miller, the linoleum artist, and helped him upload a couple of pieces of artwork that he created and owns. We thought we had gone through the free licensing process and followed it step by step but obviously we failed. What does he (or maybe I) need to do to ensure that they are able to be included on the page? Thanks in advance, DanDavidCook (talk) 02:10, 19 September 2018 (UTC)

As we need confirmation of the artist's permission to upload the image under a free license, you (or actually Bill Miller himself) have to use the OTRS system. This means the author has to send an email that contains the release to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org. --Didym (talk) 22:30, 19 September 2018 (UTC)

Die Exif sind wieder da

Moin Didym,

--Didym (talk) 16:28, 20 September 2018 (UTC)

CMB, Gadget-markAdmins

Hi Didym, somebody asked me to look into CMB. I restarted it to find a group name changed from upper case to lower case. Could you possibly revert to Special:Permalink/325932693 and apply the following change to MediaWiki:Gadget-markAdmins.js?

- 'OTRS-member': {
+ 'otrs-member': {

Thank you.

Rillke(q?) 19:33, 30 October 2018 (UTC)

Of course, users would have to update their config, so it's probably better if I do the change in the bot's code. -- Rillke(q?) 19:36, 30 October 2018 (UTC)

Umgebaut und zurückgesetzt. --Didym (talk) 19:39, 30 October 2018 (UTC)
Danke.
Deletion of File:Chhichhore(2019 film).png

Hi I see that you have deleted the file File:Chhichhore(2019 film).png. This was uploaded by me. The Movie and poster is owned by Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment I have spoke to the representative and confirmed that they do not have an issue with publishing the poster on Wikipedia. Do I need to release any documents to prove it. Please let me know. Thank You (Purplecart (talk) 13:31, 31 October 2018 (UTC))

This needs confirmation via OTRS. Also, permission to use the image on Wikipedia is not sufficient, please see COM:L. --Didym (talk) 15:38, 31 October 2018 (UTC)
A better option is probably to upload it to the English Wikipedia under fair use (search there for fair use image), although that can only be used on that site. Ravensfire (talk) 21:54, 31 October 2018 (UTC)

File:Kasteeldreef 1, 9550 Herzele.jpg

I'm wondering why you tagged this image as missing permission considering the uploader and author are identical names. Do we no longer AGF on such uploads? The author has sent on OTRS verification but that seems like just more unnecessary work all around. I'd like to know you reasoning because I would not have even considered tagging this image. Thanks in advance. Ww2censor (talk) 12:01, 3 November 2018 (UTC)

Per meta data, this image was taken from facebook, which usually indicates a copyright violation. --Didym (talk) 12:37, 3 November 2018 (UTC)
Ah indeed, I did not see that and you did not mention it in your edit summary. Of course I cannot see the metadata of a deleted image because I'm not an admin. Is that a facebook image code in the metadata starting with FBMD...? Thanks Ww2censor (talk) 00:30, 5 November 2018 (UTC)
It is. --Didym (talk) 10:24, 5 November 2018 (UTC)
Interesting, but of course as a non-admin I still can't see it for a deleted image. Perhaps a small additional note in the deletion summery would be useful for us non-admin OTRS agents. I still learn something new even after 13 years. Thanks for the info. Ww2censor (talk) 11:28, 6 November 2018 (UTC)
As those files are usually deleted in batches instead of handling them individually, this would be really complicated. But this may solve your problem. --Didym (talk) 12:48, 6 November 2018 (UTC)
Indeed it would but I've been asked before and declined. RL has too many things in it for another wiki related chore. I don't even spend enough time editing any more and have several articles I want to work on an never seem to get past initial drafts. But thanks for the suggestion. Instead I'll just have to ask the deleting admins to undelete files instead, so you can probably expect some occasional requests. Ww2censor (talk) 17:22, 8 November 2018 (UTC)

With a quick search, I am now unable to find these images, but I remember there were some wider crops than the upload here. --Didym (talk) 23:10, 5 December 2018 (UTC)
I had a look at this picture before it was deleted and I tried to find a proof that this image was a copyvio and used Google Image Search and Bing Image Search for more than an hour without success. So, are you sure that it was this image that you found in wider crops? Maybe you confused it with some other deletion request of an other image? Or maybe you found images like [2], which is only a cut and stretched version of the Commons image --146.60.145.208 11:17, 8 December 2018 (UTC)
Even if there were no larger crops (and I am pretty sure there were some) or even any matches with Google images, this small file without any metadata would qualify for deletion as a suspected copyright violation. --Didym (talk) 21:18, 8 December 2018 (UTC)

I am sorry but many of the photos I uploaded on Wikimedia Commons where older than 70 years so they are part of the public domain. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Schweiz41 (talk • contribs) 20:26, 17 December 2018 (UTC)

70 years doesn't mean the images are in the public domin, in most countries, PD starts 70+1 years after the death of the author. --Didym (talk) 00:04, 18 December 2018 (UTC)

Hey Didym,

May I have my old rights back? Thanks. -- 1989 (talk) 00:00, 24 December 2018 (UTC)

Sure. --Didym (talk) 00:04, 24 December 2018 (UTC)

The photos that I had uploaded that you deleted

You deleted many photos I had uploaded, but a lot of them were part of the public domain due to their age. Schweiz41 (talk) 19:05, 27 December 2018 (UTC)

You did not give information that supports your PD claims. And again: not the age of the photo is relevant for determining the copyright status, it's the death year of the photographer. --Didym (talk) 19:12, 27 December 2018 (UTC)

LD zu Emma Braslavsky

Hallo Didym,

magst Du Deine Entscheidung hier nochmal überdenken?

--Stepro (talk) 23:57, 28 December 2018 (UTC)

File:Mark Biltz.jpg

Hi! You deleted this file as a copyvio on my nomination, for which thank you! However, it seems that I may have made a mistake here – the uploader claims here that the source video is suitably licenced. I don't care one way or the other, but if he/she is right you may perhaps want to restore the image. Sorry to create extra work, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 11:47, 31 December 2018 (UTC)

There is a CC license on the source ([3]), but I don't think the license at the source is correct, looks like the video was stolen from somewhere else. --Didym (talk) 12:29, 31 December 2018 (UTC)
