Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~. To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg. You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account. There are several tools to upload files. Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful. Made a mistake? Do you want to have a file renamed or moved? Use the move link and wait for an authorized user to rename it. Do you want to have your recently uploaded picture removed? Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]

[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Commons:Photo challenge/2014 - August - Holidays

Please could you consider removing File:Silvretta Hochalpenstraße Porsche-Diesel Junior.jpg as it doesn't appear to meet the challenge criteria. The theme is about going on holiday or being on holiday rather than just photos one took (of scenery, or random people) while on holiday. It's not obvious to me that they are on holiday. Do you know that for a fact? If so, it might have helped if you mentioned that in the file description and entry caption. HelenOnline 11:55, 25 August 2014 (UTC)

Commons:Photo challenge

Hello Stefan2901,
would you be interested in chosing one or two challenge themes for the commons photo challenges for December?
Until now that was done for two succeeding months by a volunteer - which were always a bit difficult to find. Llann Wé² had the bright idea to ask the last winners for their input. As you and Nikodem Nijaki are the first ones asked to do so, you can decide if you'd rather each chose one theme, if you decide together on the new themes or if only one of you should be responsible.
Here are the pages where you can find already used themes and a list of (commented) suggestions - but you're of course not restricted to those. If at all possible, it would be great if we manage to get the new themes in the next few days (so please also tell us/me if you don't want to decide on a theme!), as we need some time to get the translations ready (we are already quite late).
Things to consider when choosing themes is to have at least one theme that's globally interesting (people on the southern hemisphere aren't that interested in 'winter' at the moment ;->) and to balance challenging themes and easy ones (even though it's really difficult to know in advance which themes will be difficult). Restrictions can be useful for very easy themes (e.g. a theme like 'Christmas' probably should be restricted to pictures of this year). But if you'd like we can discuss the description and possible restrictions together at Commons talk:Photo challenge#December themes - if their are different opinions we will refer to you (if you are ready to do so) for the final decision. ;->
I hope that long question/introduction wasn't too confusing and makes you eager to help rather than afraid of what we are asking to do... ;->

Wiki Loves Monuments 2019

Hallo Stefan2901,

bald ist es soweit: Vom 1. bis zum 30. September 2019 findet zum neunten Mal der internationale Wettbewerb Wiki Loves Monuments statt. Dabei können Bau- und Kulturdenkmale fotografiert und die Fotos hochgeladen werden. Du hast an einem der vergangenen Fotowettbewerbe teilgenommen. Deshalb laden wir dich ein, dieses Jahr wieder mitzumachen. Wir freuen uns auf deine Fotos!

Es sind viele spannende Motive überall in Deutschland zu fotografieren. Neben beeindruckenden märchenhaften Schlössern, Burgen und Kirchen können auch andere Kulturdenkmale wie Brücken, Industrieruinen, Bauernhöfe oder Parks fotografiert werden, um sie unter anderem in der Wikipedia zu dokumentieren. In den letzten Jahren sind zahlreiche neue Denkmallisten entstanden, die sich über Fotos freuen. Für die Suche nach Motiven gibt es bei Wikipedia zahlreiche Listen und Karten. Als Einstieg hilft diese Übersichtsseite. Weitere Informationen erhältst du auf der Mitmach-Seite.

Du bist interessiert, am Wettbewerb mitzuwirken, dir fehlt aber die richtige Technik? Dann wirf doch mal einen Blick in den Technikpool und das Technikleihportal von Wikimedia Deutschland! Dort findest du Kameras, Objektive und Zubehör verschiedenster Art. Sollte noch Technik fehlen, die aber in Zukunft unbedingt benötigt wird, dann freut sich Wikimedia Deutschland über dein Feedback zum Technikpool.

Außerdem laden wir Dich ein, ab Mitte September 2019 an der Vorjury teilzunehmen. Diese bewertet die hochgeladenen Bilder und ermittelt so gemeinsam mit der Jury, die im Oktober tagt, die Sieger von Wiki Loves Monuments 2019 in Deutschland. Das Vorjurytool ist hier bald freigeschaltet. Du benötigst dafür nur deinen Benutzernamen und das Passwort.
