A file that you have uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, File:Mullaghmeen Forest Car Park.jpg, is missing information about where it comes from or who created it, which is needed to verify its copyright status. Please edit the file description and add the missing information, or the file may be deleted.

If you created the content yourself, enter {{Own}} as the source. If you did not add a licensing template, you must add one. You may use, for example, {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} or {{Cc-zero}} to release certain rights to your work.

If someone else created the content, or if it is based on someone else's work, the source should be the address to the web page where you found it, the name and ISBN of the book you scanned it from, or similar. You should also name the author, provide verifiable information to show that the content is in the public domain or has been published under a free license by its author, and add an appropriate template identifying the public domain or licensing status, if you have not already done so. Autopatrol given edit

Hello. I just wanted to let you know that I have granted autopatrol rights to your account; the reason for this is that I believe you are sufficiently trustworthy and experienced to have your contributions automatically marked as "reviewed". This has no effect on your editing, it is simply intended to make it easier for users that are monitoring Recent changes or Recent uploads to find unproductive edits amidst the productive ones like yours. In addition, the Flickr upload feature and an increased number of batch-uploads in UploadWizard, uploading of freely licensed MP3 files, overwriting files uploaded by others and an increased limit for page renames per minute are now available to you. Thank you. --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 17:08, 4 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

Move of Category:Sliabh Mis edit

Hi Britishfinance, you moved Category:Sliabh Mis to Category:Slieve Mish Mountains with the rationale This is the most common name (and the title used in the en-Wiki article about the range); Sliabh is the gaelic name; all other Irish mountain ranges (e.g. MacGillycuddy Reeks), are by their common en-Wiki name. While you are right that Slieve Mish Mountains is the most common name, it is not the proper name per COM:CAT#Category names as these mountains are located mostly within the Gaeltacht Corca Dhuibhne where Irish is the primary language. BTW, the oldest known record of it is in Mac Carthaigh's Book, MCB1151.3 – written at a time before English was spoken in Ireland. Regards, AFBorchert (talk) 22:24, 19 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hi AFBorchert, and thank you for that. I am aware of COM:CAT#Category names, however, this would fail the names for which the non-English name is most commonly used in the English language test. I am familiar with this part of the world and it is rare (very rare) to find people speaking Irish as their primary language here. However, the best example is that of Dingle (fully in a Gaeltacht area), whose residents voted almost unanimously to overturn an attempt to solely re-name their town as the gaelic "Daingean Uí Chúis" (because very few speak Irish in Dingle as a primary language). Very few, if any, would be searching for "Sliabh Mis" on Wikipedia for images of this range. thanks. Britishfinance (talk) 07:05, 20 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
Hi Britishfinance, however, there are exceptions such as some proper names – usually these are the names in the language primarily or officially spoken in an area. This is not necessarily the en-wiki name. I know this is always challenging in the Gaeltacht areas as this is sometimes more political wishful thinking than actual practice. Anyway, this was my rationale why I created this category with an Irish name and while I will not fight this any further I would appreciate it if cases like this could be proposed first at COM:CFD as they shouldn't be assumed to be non-controversial. Regards, AFBorchert (talk) 07:33, 20 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
Fair enough AFBorchert, and will do in the future. Kind regards. Britishfinance (talk) 07:41, 20 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for uploading File:Aasleagh Falls, Mayo, Ireland.jpg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.

If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.)

If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there.

Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you.

Thanks Chenzw, I have been away for a while and only seeing this now; I downloaded it from Flickr (via the Flicker upload wizard). I have no knowledge of its source licensing (beyond what was marked on Flickr by the "possible" owner), and could not find a better source. No problem with it being deleted per your tag therefore. Notice of upload removal edit

Dear Britishfinance

The Wikimedia Foundation (“Wikimedia”) has taken down content that you posted at File:National_Army_Museum,_London.jpg due to Wikimedia’s receipt of a validly formulated notice that your posted content was infringing an existing copyright.

What Can You Do?

You are not obligated to take any action. However, if you feel that your content does not infringe upon any copyrights, you may contest the take down request by submitting a 'counter notice' to Wikimedia. Before doing so, you should understand your legal position, and you may wish to consult with an attorney.

Filing a Counter Notice

If you choose to submit a counter notice, you must send a letter asking Wikimedia to restore your content to legal@wikimedia.org, or to our service processor at the following address: Wikimedia Foundation, c/o CT Corporation System, 818 West Seventh Street, Los Angeles, California, 90017. The letter must comply with DMCA standards, set out in Section (g)(3)(A-D), and must contain the following:

  • A link to where the content was before we took it down and a description of the material that was removed;
  • A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good faith belief that the content was removed or disabled as a result of mistake or misidentification of the material to be removed or disabled;
  • Your name, address, and phone number;
  • If your address is in the United States, a statement that says “I consent to the jurisdiction of the Federal District Court for the district where my address is located, and I will accept service of process from the person who complained about the content I posted”; alternatively, if your address is outside the United States, a statement that says “I agree to accept service of process in any jurisdiction where the Wikimedia Foundation can be found, and I will accept service of process from the person who complained about the content I posted”; and finally,
  • Your physical or electronic signature.

Pursuant to the DMCA, Wikimedia must inform the alleged copyright holder that you sent us a counter notice, and give the alleged copyright holder a copy of the counter notice. The alleged copyright holder will then have fourteen (14) business days to file a lawsuit against you to restrain Wikimedia from reposting the content. If Wikimedia does not receive proper notification that the alleged copyright holder has initiated such a lawsuit against you, we will repost your content within ten (10) to fourteen (14) business days.

Miscellaneous

As a matter of policy and under appropriate circumstances, Wikimedia will block the accounts of repeat infringers as provided by Section 512(i)(1)(A) of the DMCA.

If you would like to learn more about Wikimedia’s policies, please refer to the Wikimedia Terms of Use, available at Terms of use, and the Wikimedia Legal Policies, available at m:Legal/Legal_Policies. More information on DMCA compliance may also be found at:

Wikimedia appreciates your support. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions regarding this notice.
