A little tip/request

Hello Mohammad / IamMM,

first of all, thank you very much for your continued effort to find and nominate excellent pictures as Featured Pictures!

Please allow me to share with you a little tip or request regarding your featured pictures. There is a bug somewhere in our FPCBot. Normally when you nominate some picture as FP candidate and it gets promoted, FPCBot adds the {{Assessments}} template to the description page of the picture and includes in that template the parameter featured=1; this means that the picture is a FP on Commons. But when the picture in question is already a FP on some Wikipedia edition, e.g. on the English or Persian language Wikipedia, there is a already an {{Assessments}} template on the description page. FPCBot should just add featured=1 to that template, but the bot does not do that (that’s the bug).

Therefore e.g. the description page for your FP Farmhouse in Provence, 1888, Vincent van Gogh, NGA.jpg did not include any hint that this picture is a FP on Commons, too. I have already fixed that. But I would like to ask you to keep an eye on your FPs yourself – I will try to find and fix such errors, of course, but I am not always around and I may not find every instance of these errors. All you need to do is to check the description page of all your Commons FPs some days after the promotion (and it is only necessary for pictures which were already a FP on some Wikipedia edition). Does the page say “This is a featured picture on Wikimedia Commons …”? If not, the bot has once again failed to do its duty. Then please manually add the featured=1 parameter to the {{Assessments}} template. It’s really simple, here you can see how to do it.

Hello Mohammad / IamMM,

I hope you won’t be angry with me for making your nomination more complicated by suggesting yet another variation of the image ;–). I admit that this was not absolutely necessary, as the nomination would probably have been successful as it was. But when I did read Basile’s comment, I realised that he is simply right, and I want our FPs to be as good as possible. So I have fixed those problems of the picture which can be fixed rather easily.

To avoid complicating things even more, I have not proposed the image as an alternative (because the differences are too small), but I just suggest that we simply use the edited version. If no one objects, I can simply change the nomination, so you don’t have any extra work. I hope that's OK with you.
