Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~. To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg. You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account. There are several tools to upload files. Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful. Made a mistake? Do you want to have a file renamed or moved? Use the move link and wait for an authorized user to rename it. Do you want to have your recently uploaded picture removed? Tag it as {{speedy|reason here}}. For more information read the deletion guidelines.

I note your comment on the subject page that STAUCC has put all its images into the public domain.

I question that for two reasons:

First, STAUCC is unlikely to actually own the copyright to any images. Such ownership would require a formal, written, transfer of rights from the photographers. I'd be surprised if a university club and its members bothered to do this. Without such a formal transfer, the copyrights lie with the photographers and the club has no right to license them.

Second, at least one of the images on Flickr is licensed CC-BY-ND, which is not PD and is not an acceptable license for Commons -- we require that derivative works be allowed, so that the acceptable CC licenses are CC-0, CC-BY, and CC-BY-SA. ND and NC are not permitted here.

If you have questions, you may ask them at the Village Pump in any of 42 languages or on my talk page. I will also watch for questions here on your talk page for at least a week.

I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear. If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.) Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the second round of the 2016 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the eleventh edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2016) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year were entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.

There are two total rounds of voting. In the first round, you voted for as many images as you liked. In Round 1, there were 1475 candidate images. There are 58 finalists in Round 2, comprised of the top 30 overall as well as the top #1 and #2 from each sub-category.

In the final round, you may vote for just one or maximal three image to become the Picture of the Year.

Round 2 will end on 20 April 2017, 23:59:59 UTC.

Eight days into Wiki Loves Monuments

Thank you for taking part in Wiki Loves Monuments UK

Thank you for submitting your photos to the competition, it really helps improve our coverage of historic sites. Photos from this year are already being used on Wikipedia - though it may take a while for the monuments map to catch up so don't be disheartened if some pins haven't turned blue yet. WLM runs until the end of the month, so please add more and invite other people to take part. We are within touching distance of 1,000 photos for the UK, putting us just behind the United States in 14th place out of 49 countries taking part. Let's see if we can jump a few places! More than 300 people have contributed a total of 4,000 photos to this year's competition and we wanted to say thank you for helping us get this far. The competition runs until the end of September, and you can upload as many images as you want - so feel free to document some more sites. Since you've already submitted some pictures to the competition, you might be interested in the banner mini-contest; to take part you crop your images to a 7:1 and upload a new version.
