Hi Joe

This is my first user talk on wikipedia, so I am not 100% sure if it will work. You asked about Photos I provided on a wiki on Yehiel Rabinowitz.

In fact Yehiel is an artist that I admire and I think to be wortwhile to have an entry in Wikipedia. I have asked his permission to publish the pictures that I put to the article.

Looks like when you added {{Npd}} to File:Villa Menguy Rabat.jpg you didn't notify the uploader with {{Image permission}}. I'll do that now, but if there are other images on which you've done the same, you might want to follow up yourself. RE: Want to Create New Fresnel Lenses Categories

It's done for today. I have already about 40 files transferred to the new categories - those of which I have reliable references - and 50 were left behind. During the weekend I will get references for some more, and others will stay where they are. However, I believe it is a useful task, to allow the illustration of any articles about lighthouses with lenses with the correct "Order", even without the image of their own lenses. Hi! I've made the English description a bit clearer and I've also changed the category to simply "documents of Poland". I don't have much knowledge in the field of building works so I don't know what other category could be appropriate here. Basically, the Polish Construction Act (Prawo budowlane) requires each building to have a special document which can be called in English the Energy Certificate (as far as I know it states how much energy this building uses etc.). This file is a specimen of a licence for an auditor who, having obtained such a licence, can issue the Energy Certificates. I hope this helps you. Powerek38 (talk) 16:53, 24 January 2010 (UTC)

Eskualdeak

Hello, Category:Eskualdeak of the Basque Country has to be split in a spanish part and a french part; the french part Category: Eskualdeak of the Northern Basque Country was done, therefore I removed Geographie of Pyr-Atl.; but I had yet to create the Spanish part, it's done now: Category:Eskualdeak of the Basque Autonomous Community. It sure seems like the two can be combined somehow, but I'm not sure how it should go. I could see renaming Category:Maps of regions of Gipuzkoa as Category:Maps of Eskualdeak of Gipuzkoa, putting it as a subcat of Category:Eskualdeak of Guipuscoa. We still need the latter, because we should eventually get a category for each of those Eskualdeak. But I'm not going to wade in deeper here. As I've said elsewhere, Basque is the one language in that region that I can't even read, so I don't feel I should make the decisions on that part, just make sure that nothing too egregious is done. - Jmabel ! talk 06:35, 15 February 2010 (UTC)

Crane categorization

This is an old chestnut. If you know anyone who understands cranes, please encourage them to contribute to Wikipedia/ Commons - their help would be useful, although I doubt appreciated.

Crane categorization is a mess: the usual problem, WP's distrust of subject knowledge by editors. There's one editor in particular who has taken it upon themselves to re-organize many categories, including cranes. I don't know what he does know about, but it's not cranes.

I've moved those images to two cats: Category:Container cranes & Category:Gantry cranes. We could (but don't as yet) have more-specific sub categories for both of these, as there are several different and distinct types of container crane. Many of those currently container cranes currently listed under Gantry cranes aren't gantries either. Andy Dingley (talk) 21:34, 28 February 2010 (UTC)

re Categorization

Hi Jmabel, thank you! I fixed the category:Gentlemen thieves before creating it as subcat of category:Fictional criminals. I'm not shure what do you mean when you say "What is the point of adding a category that is not in the hierarchy?". A wiki is basically a hypertext, so the hierachical organization is only one of the many (even if the main) we use.
