Some contents have been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether they should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at their entry.

If you created these pages, please note that the fact that they have been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. Hello Kacamata, the following content you uploaded violates one or more of our policies and therefore has been or will soon be deleted:

File:Jair Bolsonaro overflights the Brumadinho dam disaster (new angle).jpg

The Wikimedia Commons (this website) only hosts media files with a realistic educational purpose and that can be used for any purpose, including:
  • use in any work, regardless of content
  • creation of derivative works
  • commercial use
  • free distribution

See Commons:Licensing for the copyright policy on Wikimedia Commons, and Commons:Image casebook for some specific examples. Some other Wikimedia projects have different licensing policies. For example, the English Wikipedia allows fair use of sounds and photographs. This is not the case on Wikimedia Commons; "fair use" materials are not acceptable here.

Please make sure that you only upload educational content you have created yourself, those which are out of copyright, or those for which you have the required permission for the work to be used in all the ways described above. Please note that derivative works of copyrighted material are also considered copyrighted. Again, please read through Commons:Licensing, which is quite crucial, to understanding how Wikimedia Commons works. Thanks for your contribution, and please do leave me a message if you have further questions.

Cropping images

edit

Hi, I noticed that you have cropped several images, presumably to remove a logo. There may be legal implications in doing this, see Commons:Watermarks#Legal issues with the removal of watermarks. This is not an official Commons policy or guideline and I'm not telling you to not do it, but you should be aware of the legal issues.

I also notice that the file size of your cropped images is much smaller than the originals, indicating that the image is more compressed and has probably lost some image quality. I recommend using Commons:CropTool. Rather than cropping, it is often better to paint out unwanted elements of an image using an image editor, retaining the original composition. I do this using Microsoft Paint to copy a neighbouring area of the image, as in File:Brynford Village Green - geograph.org.uk - 33781.jpg. This media was probably deleted.
Thanks for uploading File:Martin Filler DM.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.

Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own).

The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded ([[:File:Martin Filler DM.jpg]]) and the above demanded information in your request.

  • Hi, Secondarywaltz. This image was uploaded on en.WP, it's there for over 7 years and it was suggested by a bot to transfer it to Commons. If this is a COPYVIO, it's a serious COPYVIO on en.WP (where the image is being used for several years). If this is a COPYVIO just tell me and I'll nominate the image at en.WP for deletion too. Regards.--SirEdimon (talk) 04:25, 19 January 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Secondarywaltz: Note attached to the upload states "Image copyright © Duane Michals" and there is no permission from the author. Secondarywaltz (talk)
{{reply to|Yes, I noted it, but I assumed that it was "impossible" to an image to remain for over 7 years on Wikipedia violating copyright without anyone (admins/experienced editors) to notice it. Perhaps, I was a little bit "naive". I have no means to contact the image's author and the editor, who originally uploaded it on en.WP, is inactive for almost 6 years now. I guess the only solution is to delete it. I'm sorry for this mistake. I'll nominate the original image for deletion. Regards.--SirEdimon (talk) 04:40, 19 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

Deletion

edit

Hello!

I saw that you created a deletion request for an inappropriate user page. A promotional/inappropriate user page is a criteria for speedy deletion under CSD U3, so {{SD|U3}} would've been enough. Just so you know :).Jonteemil (talk) 23:09, 2 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hi, Jonteemil. I know this, but I didn't know how to nominate it to speedy deletion. Hahaha. Then, I did think that it would be better to nominate it for deletion than just let it be. Do you know a easy way to nominate pages to speedy deletion? I know how to nominate pages for speedy deletion for copyvio, but not for other reasons. Regards.--SirEdimon (talk) 23:26, 2 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
Other than editing the page and entering {{SD|U3}} you can do it with Help:QuickDelete if you have that gadget activated.Jonteemil (talk) 00:24, 3 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

— Preceding unsigned comment added by Miyaggi (talk • contribs) 08:50, 1 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hello. I just wanted to let you know that I have granted autopatrol rights to your account; the reason for this is that I believe you are sufficiently trustworthy and experienced to have your contributions automatically marked as "reviewed". This has no effect on your editing, it is simply intended to make it easier for users that are monitoring Recent changes or Recent uploads to find unproductive edits amidst the productive ones like yours. In addition, the Flickr upload feature and an increased number of batch-uploads in UploadWizard, uploading of freely licensed MP3 files, overwriting files uploaded by others and an increased limit for page renames per minute are now available to you. Thank you. Érico (talk) 01:30, 30 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Flickr2Commons

edit

I have just come across a few images you have recently uploaded from Flickr. I would appreciate it if in the future, you used the Flickr2Commons tool. This tool allows images to be moved to Commons from Flickr without having to download the images to your own computer. It also brings in the largest resolution of the image, as well making sure to list the correct license and url, making it easy for the automated Flickr Review system. Also, it is fairly easy to categorize images with this tool. To use it, you just need to go to the url and authorize it (where it says "authorise first").--A1Cafel (talk) 10:17, 30 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi A1Cafel. I'm sorry the delay to reply. I'll try it next time I upload a image via Flickr. Thanks.--Kacamata! Dimmi!!! 18:46, 6 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
A1Cafel For the first time, I uploaded images using Flickr2Commons (or, at least, I guess I did) and the uploads were not cleared by FlickreviewR 2 and have several hidden categories/issues that must be addressed. Could you please review the last seven images I have uploaded and tell what I did wrong? So, I can avoid doing the same mistakes again. Regards.--Kacamata! Dimmi!!! 01:45, 2 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
First of all, you didn't use the F2C tool. There is a link at the first message that I delivered to you, just try again. Second, you several files uploaded recently are licensed under COM:PDM, this tag has been allowed since 2020, so no worry for this. --A1Cafel (talk) 02:34, 2 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
A1Cafel So, I have to upload directly using the tool on the link? If so, I'll try again.--Kacamata! Dimmi!!! 02:37, 2 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
You can simply type "COM:F2C" to directly go to the above link. Happy editing. --A1Cafel (talk) 02:42, 2 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Deleção da imagem File:Mateus Simões Out 2022.jpg

Ajmcbarreto (talk) 00:03, 8 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

a heads up

I noticed you place a lot of {{No source since}} tags on images where the uploader stated "own work". I noticed you doing so on images where I thought the "own work" claims were credible. I am concerned that a {{No source since}} tag is not the right way to challenge the uploads of individuals you suspect of sockpuppetry, or other bad faith activity, and I raised this issue at Commons:Village_pump/Technical Geo Swan (talk) 05:46, 15 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

  • I made a brief review of your contribution history. It seems you have left thousands of notes on user talk pages informing newbies that you had tagged images they uploaded for speedy deletion due to no source.
However, the couple of dozen you tagged recently, which haven't yet been deleted, included quite a few images where either:
  1. the image probably did merit a deletion discussion, but for copyright violation, or not being in scope;
  2. I saw zero reason to doubt that the image was an "own image" as the newbie uploader claimed.
I think good faith newbies are best served when the deletion justification in the deletion log clearly specifies what was actually wrong with the image. If the real problem was copyright, or scope, that is what the deletion log should say, because we want people to learn from their mistakes.
So far as I know good faith newbies are allowed to upload images they took themselves.
I am afraid that your assertion their good faith own images lacked a valid source not only resulted in hundreds of valid images being unnecessarily deleted, but it would have had a chilling effect on the enthusiasm of those promising newbies.
If you choose to continue to nominate images for deletion I really hope you will be more careful. Thanks. Geo Swan (talk) 20:29, 16 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Geo Swan Stop sending messages. I don't want and don't need a "heads up" from someone like you. I know what kind of behavior you have and why you are banned from en.WP. Again, STOP sending messages. Someone like you have nothing to teach me. Bye. Kacamata! Dimmi!!! 20:36, 16 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

Dear Wikimedian,

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the 2023 Picture of the Year competition is now open.
