You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold when contributing and assume good faith when interacting with others. This is a wiki.

Getting help

More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump.

Goodies, tips, and tricks

Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your graphic abilities.
You can find the files you have uploaded in your Uploads.
Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~.
To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg.
You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account.

Own work?

You have been uploading a wide variety of images and claiming them as your own work. These do not look to me to be the work of a single person. If you can clarify which are actually yours, great, and please do. Otherwise, I'll have to nominate them all for deletion. - Jmabel ! talk 05:32, 28 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

I have a big collection of photos taken by myself on my own camera. I have studied photography in Los Angeles and taking photos has been my hobby. The one that first got my attention in this respect was File:Bishop Charles Lavigne while serving at Kottayam.jpg, which does not even look like a modern photograph. But also, for example, File:Cathedral kottayam.gif is a mix of two photographs and text, at a low resolution, and appears to come from http://directory.ucanews.com/dioceses/india-kottayam/148. If you are, indeed, the photographer you'll need to go through the process outlined at COM:OTRS, since this was previously online on a site that does not offer a similar license (it says "© ucanews.com all rights reserved"). Also the date you give, 15 November 2017, seems very unlikely given its presence on that other site. Similarly, File:Knanaya Region Logo.jpg, which you claim as your own work and date as 13 November 2017 seems to me to require the process outlined at COM:OTRS: are you saying you designed this and own the copyright? And that it is, indeed, their official logo, which you designed just this month? File:St. Sebastian Shrine Cherpunkal.jpg appears to be clipped from a brochure or such. You date it 10 November 2017 and claim it as "own work" meaning you would have just recently photographed it, etc. For File:Kalloor new.jpg you claim that same date, presumably covering both the logo & the photograph, as well as the text, etc. Meanwhile, File:Kalloor Old.jpg], which you date as 8 November 2017, is clearly from an old half-tone, which almost always means that it comes from a book or newspaper. I look at these and the claims of "own work" and the dates given seem unlikely, to say the least. That is why I am asking: if some of these really are your own work and some are not, I'm trying to give you a chance to proactively indicate which are not and start the deletion request process on those yourself, and to use OTRS to clarify rights on things that might have been previously published, etc. Otherwise, the only thing I can see to do is that on the basis of Commons:Project scope/Precautionary principle I will need to propose the lot of them for deletion. - Jmabel ! talk 21:20, 28 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Jacobbijo1: If you want your comments to factor into the decision whether to delete, you need to reply at Commons:Deletion requests/Files uploaded by Jacobbijo1. Also, you need to be specific about which pictures were taken with your own camera (those will almost certainly be saved). Typically, having a picture "taken for you" does not transfer copyright unless there is a written contract specifying that it is work for hire. Otherwise, the photographer would still own copyright and would need to go through the COM:OTRS process to provide a license. - Jmabel ! talk 17:46, 14 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.
