Tip: Categorizing imagesedit
Hello, Wikitanvir!
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them. Here's how: 1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense: 2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.
For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:
This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets". When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations"). Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.
There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. It has been found that you've added in the image's description only a Template that's not a license and although it provides useful information about the image, it's not a valid license. Could you please resolve this problem, adding the license in the image linked above? You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file. This page may give you more hints on which license to choose. Thank you.

When reviewing please pay attention that people transfered the largest version from flickr. If they didnt please upload it or, the easiest way, let the bot review the picture. --Martin H. (talk) 07:24, 23 July 2010 (UTC)
Bikini images?editDo you think you can stop uploading free bikini images for a while (maybe 5 days)? The flickr review bot has crashed--it marks only 1-2 images at each interval--and the flickr backlog is 240+ images And your mass uploads aren't helping matters. You can always upload them later once the flickr bot has been fixed. Right now, the bot is malfunctioning and I cannot mark all these images since I have my own job to do and I have other people's images to mark too. Thank You, --Leoboudv (talk) 09:02, 25 July 2010 (UTC)
Possible license problemeditI notice that you reviewed the licence for this image: http://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=File:EN-V_Jiao_%28Pride%29_on_street.jpg&oldid=41767194 which is marked as a Creative Commons Attribution 2.0 Generic. However, the EXIF data associated with the image on Flickr identifies it as "Creative Commons 3.0 License for the purpose of editorial comment only." and also copyright GM Co. (http://www.flickr.com/photos/24641875@N07/4458574801/meta/in/set-72157623526768197). Reviewing a licenseeditHowdy. When you reviewed this image, you approved it as {{CC-BY-3.0}}. I think you may have missed that the source image is {{CC-BY-SA-3.0}}. I've fixed the license on the image.--Rockfang (talk) 13:46, 7 August 2010 (UTC)
You accidentally passed a copyvio here. Did you see that the flickr account has only 1 image. Surely this is a great warning sign that the uploader took the image from somewhere. It could be here though the resolution is smaller. (not 2043 X 3000 pixels) Since one cannot be sure, Trycatch, feels its safer to tag it with npd on the file history. I admit, this is a great way to slip a flickwash pass trusted users like us. That is why I look at the flickr account and see the flickr photostream if possible. Regards, --Leoboudv (talk) 20:53, 8 August 2010 (UTC) Files you uploaded may be deletededitThe files listed below, which you uploaded, have been tagged {{OTRS pending}} for more than 30 days. This tag indicates that an email setting out permission to use the file was sent to the OTRS team. Unfortunately, we cannot find any record that such an email has been received, and accordingly the file remains without permission. Unless the OTRS team receives evidence that permission has been granted within 15 days of today's date, the file will be deleted. If you have not sent the permission, please send it to "permissions-commonswikimedia.org" now. Please quote the file name in your email. If you have, please leave a message at the OTRS noticeboard, quoting the file name, so that a volunteer can follow this up. Alternatively, you can contact an OTRS volunteer directly. Please note that this message is being left by an automated bot, whose operator is not an OTRS volunteer, therefore please do not send this information to me, as it will not save your images from deletion. About Deletion requests/File:MichaelGreyeyes.jpgeditYou suggested that my file was deleted (File:MichaelGreyeyes.jpg). This image is found in various sources on the internet because it originally was found on the official website of the actor (http://www.michael-greyeyes.com/), but this site that no longer exists. This image was provided in the Photo Gallery section to download and the Press Material section. How is the first time I send a file, could you help me? File:Miranda-Kerr.jpgeditHi. I undid your adding a "missing permission" template to File:Miranda-Kerr.jpg, as the uploader states they are the author, and authors do not need to give permission to themself. If there is some problem please explain or list for deletion discussion (note that there was a previous deletion listing for this file). Thanks for your attention. Cheers, -- Infrogmation (talk) 18:33, 17 January 2011 (UTC) File:Dobczyce sluza A.jpgeditDobczyce sluza A.jpg — There is still "Dobczyce śluza". It is not renamed. This should be "Dobczyce tama". I deducted it for this change and explained why. Śluza in Polish language means: water gate and tama means: dam. It is any water gate in this place on this river. About imageseditYou deleted some images I uploaded and nominated some of the remaining ones to delete. I informed you that I do have permission to upload them. But you did not reply. I am waiting for your response. Please, kindly reply me. And please, allow me to upload the deleted images once again. Because I do have permission to upload them. Without the images, the articles are incomplete. - Deeptamoso (talk) 15:50, 19 January 2011 (UTC)
RfAeditHi there. I've closed your RfA as successful and promoted you to administrator on Commons. Congrats and good luck, and let me know if you need any help. –Juliancolton | Talk 03:12, 24 January 2011 (UTC)
Congratulations, Dear Administrator!edit
Wikitanvir, congratulations! You now have administrator rights on Commons. Please take a moment to read the Commons:Administrators page and watchlist related pages (in particular Commons:Administrators' noticeboard and its subpages), before launching yourself into page deletions, page protections, account blockings or modifications of protected pages. The majority of the actions of administrators can be reversed by the other admins, except for history merges which must thus be treated with particular care. Have a look at the list of Gadgets (on the bottom there are the ones specifically for admins – however, for example the UserMessages are very helpful too). Please feel free to join us on IRC: #wikimedia-commons webchat on irc.libera.chat. There is also a channel for Commons admins, which may be useful for more sensitive topics, or coordination among administrators: #wikimedia-commons-admin webchat. You may find Commons:Guide to adminship to be useful reading. You can find the admin backlog overview at COM:AB. Please also check or add your entry to the List of administrators and the related lists by language and date it references.
Using images from FlickereditI would be very grateful for your help. I recently downloaded some images onto Wikicommons. One was from Flicker- a view of a font in Llandaff Cathedral. I want to use this in an article written for Wikipedia on the sculptor Alan Durst so asked the author of the image (http://www.flickr.com/photos/9056557@N08/5382044136/) whether he would give me permission to use the image. He agreed and kindly went backi to Llandaff to take more photographs for me to use. It looks as though I have not followed the right track and that my image could be removed. I would be most grateful if you could give me some guidance, perhaps a step by step guide to downloading Images from Flicker to Wikicommons, where I have the author's approval, and want to then include in a Wikipedia article. Many thanks Weglinde (talk) 12:34, 24 January 2011 (UTC)

Filemover thankseditFor this. I shall use it carefully. Cheers, --jjron (talk) 10:34, 23 March 2011 (UTC) CivileditI'm no longer going to upload here. I will upload all my images to wikipedia instead.I spent time requesting the license was changed on those images and uploaded them here in good faith. Then I get a PAY ATTENTION TO COPYRIGHT warning which is patronising givnen that I had requested the bunch and it was a slight error that the flickr user missed that particular image. Issuing civil wanrings made it even worse and pushed me away. Blofeld Dr. (talk) 16:43, 3 April 2011 (UTC) Thankyou, I will try to remain civil but I find that warning very patronising. Given that I am very conscious of it and even make requests every day or two for people to change licenses I find it a bit off that's all... When I am angry, civil warnings make the situation worse, even if the comments are indeed uncivil. Never mind. Sorry for the conflict, Take care.Blofeld Dr. (talk) 17:25, 3 April 2011 (UTC) Please do not tag images with OTRS pending or OTRS received for speedy deletioneditThank you for helping by reviewing flicker images on the commons. If you find a file does not have the correct permissions and has an OTRS pending or OTRS received tag, please tag it with {{Flickrreview|YourUsername|date|current license on flicker)}} rather than {{Unfree Flickr file}}. OTRS for imageseditYou have received permission e-mail for my images and some other files The permission is totally true. If you want to check it, please contact the author because I asked her in FlickrMail, not in the source page. As you can see in the email the author say just require to attribute me as as the author . So understand it's cc-by. Moreover, some of her images are also on Commons before like They are also licensed under cc-by. So if you don't believe, you can ask Chrisa hickey by creating an account and send her email. Human RevieweditDear Admin Wikitanvir, If you have some time, please consider marking some of these images here. I don't know why Commons has many trusted users and Admins and only a few like Chaser, Lymantria, occasionally MGA73 or me, mark them sporadically nowadays. If you can mark a few, it would help. I mark some but I have my own job too. But....please mark them only if you have the time. Thank You, --Leoboudv (talk) 00:12, 31 May 2011 (UTC)

Copyright law of BangladesheditI need some help from a native speaker of the bengali language. In recent weeks, I created a lot of copyright templates on Commons. We already have Template:PD-Bangladesh, but this template (and its source) do not explain if governmental documents like laws and court decision are public domain in general (which is the case in most countries). Can you have a look into the bengali law (you find it here [3] and check if this is the case? HelpeditHi Tanvir, I am from the Tamil Wiki projects. We are planning to run a media contest for Tamil wiki projects and use the Upload campaign for it. We need help from an administrator to set up the campaign. (we tried to get the new user right for doing this alone and has stalled because, commons doesn't have any policies in place to govern this. We were adviced to seek the help of an admin instead. (administrators have the rights to setup and manage campaigns). Can you help me create and configure the upload campaign. We require help only for the initial setup and dont need it afterward (we can use the categories for tracking). I have created the necessary templates and categories for the contest. I will provide the campaign details if you are ok with helping us.--Sodabottle (talk) 13:28, 25 October 2011 (UTC)
