There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. It has been found that you've added in the image's description only a Template that's not a license and although it provides useful information about the image, it's not a valid license. Could you please resolve this problem, adding the license in the image linked above? You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file. This page may give you more hints on which license to choose. Thank you.

Hi トトト. Is the author of this file really Jorge? This photo is from the flickr, photo by elmimmo. Guy, you are stealing! And even worser: the elmimmo releases tons of images under free licenses, so you are stealing from someone who is willings to donate his work for free. Thats shameful. --Imifu (talk) 13:57, 26 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

I'm not stealing the file. I used FlinfoTool to upload the file and the result was what you have just shown. Pleas check that the link was correctly set to elmimmo's page at that time (and now, of course). Possibly he was putting "Jorge" at his profile page, and FlinfoTool just reflected it. Anyway, I was notified of it by a user in ja.wiki so I have already updated the file information (1). Sincerely,--トトト (talk) 14:23, 26 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hi トトト. Is the author of this file really Jorge? This photo is from the flickr, photo by elmimmo. Why? Why? Why? --Imifu (talk) 10:39, 27 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

I'll ask elmimmo if he had ever called himself "Jorge" in the past. Please wait for a few days.--トトト (talk) 13:04, 27 February 2010 (UTC)Reply
Just simply put the number "2449865680", for example, into the FlinfoTool and see what it shows. As of 17:40, 27 February 2010 (UTC), it showed
*|Author=[http://www.flickr.com/people/22032474@N00 Jorge] from Tokyo, Japan
which means that "Jorge" is on his profile page (whether it is his real name or not), and the FlinfoTool refletcted it. So this is the proof that I did't falsify the author information.
By the way, Imifu, I saw your history of activities and found that you haven't uploaded a single file, and also that you were warned by a sysop of your vandalism in the past. Why don't you think of contributing to this community, instead of blaming and finding faults with other users? Are you not ashamed of your acts? You should live more positively. Heiden (Shinto)

Hi. You deleted the Heiden (Shinto) category, even though there was an article that was using it. the deletion was reverted. May I ask why it's a bad name? Urashimataro (talk) 08:53, 30 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I'm terribly sorry. I thought it was a mistaken pronunciation of "Haiden" (拝殿), which turned out to be my mistake. Please accept my apology.--トトト (talk) 09:32, 30 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Tokyō

You removed the category "Tokyō" I had added to the image 20100723 Miyajima Goju-no-to Pagoda 4839.jpg. I added it back because the brackets called tokyō are visible and I need that file for Wikipedia. This is the second time you wrongly remove categories I add. Please be careful.--Urashimataro (talk) 13:27, 20 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Apology for my hasty action. I will be more careful. However, isn't "Tokyō" confusing with the more popular word "Tōkyō" or "Tokyo"? One would never hear "斗栱" in natural conversations so I assume it is nearly impossible for any Japanese speakers to imagine the word from the alphabetical transcription. I think "Category:斗栱" or "Category:Tokyō (Japanese architecture)" is the more preferable name.--トトト (talk) 00:04, 21 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Well, I thought the single macron made it clear it wasn't the capital we were talking about. Maybe I should use "kumimono" (組物), which means the same. BTW, if you find decent photos of warizuka and minozuka, could you let me know?--Urashimataro (talk) 12:23, 21 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

"Category:Kumimono" sounds fine and better, I think. Being wago makes it more imaginable. And I browsed through flickr for a couple of minutes and found this and this showing "warizuka". Both are licensed as CC-BY and are able to be uploaded to commons at any moment. As for "minozuka", I need some time to know the term. But I will let you know if I find any.

Takabeg (talk) 13:12, 7 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Takabeg (talk) 13:25, 7 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Takabeg (talk) 14:54, 7 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Takabeg (talk) 11:02, 10 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Takabeg (talk) 14:42, 10 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Takabeg (talk) 17:38, 10 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Ships by year of completion

I changed your Category:JS Haruyuki (DD-128). The reason is that the "Ships built in" date for ships on Commons differs from other Wikipedia's. Here on Commons we use the date by completion, for naval ships is that the date of first commissioning. --Stunteltje (talk) 09:45, 17 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

I am quite embarrassed. Almost all the U.S./Royal Navy's ships are currently categoriezed in their date of launches. For example, nobody dares to change Category:USS Enterprise (CVN-65) into "built in 1961", nor Category:HMS Invincible (R05) into "built in 1980". How should I interprete these discrepancies? --トトト (talk) 14:12, 17 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
Ships categorising is difficult, as worldwide Wikipedia's differ in the date of start. Some Wikipedia's use the date of launching of ships, some the date of completion of ships. Have a look at the digfference in e.g. French, German, English and Dutch Wikipedia. On Commons, as it is a worldwide working database, it is important and accepted to use just one system for any item. One has to make a choise. The date of completion can be found on the certificates of the ships, on contracts and publications in the media, even for old ships, not described in full on the internet. In that case the date of completion is the best choise if we want to find start dates. Unfortunately naval shiplovers here on Commons want to continue the system of their local Wikipedia for their naval ships. As the content of USS naval ships is the biggest of naval ships on Commons, you'll find the English Wikipedia system here on a lot of USS naval ships. That's why. But have a look at the en:Category:HMS Dreadnought (1875) and de:Category:HMS Dreadnought (1879), same ship. Here on Commons we have more than 15.000 ships in Category:Ships by name, in just one system: without any prefix and by date of completion. Without prefixes, as each language has its own prefix system. The only exeptions are a lot of naval ships. Sometimes it is impossible to avoid prefixes, as ships are just numbered and during a vast period only the pennant number is painted on the ship. E.g. Category:LST-325 (ship, 1943). Please realise that Commons is just a database for images and it is important to find these images. It is not a Wikipedia. --Stunteltje (talk) 15:17, 17 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

--Stunteltje (talk) 07:10, 1 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

It might have been too early, but no big deal. If the renaming is rejected, I will return the file to the original category. I created the new category beforehand because one of parent categories of the current Taken with Nikon D90 and DX AD-S Nikkor 18-200 mm 1:3.5-5.6 GII ED will be non-existent if the renaming is done in the future. I moved only one file so that the new category should not be deleted as not used by an administrator. It might have been too early, though. I will sit still and wait for the consensus to be reached, and let the rest of the job done by the delinker.

Yasu (talk) 15:36, 13 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Yasu (talk) 16:58, 10 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
Yasu (talk) 15:00, 25 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

Info Hi, thank you for reviewing my file. I did that because I value aesthetics of the description more than a function of a computer language. For the readers,

is easier to understand than

Two grey boxes occupying the field look a bit loathsome and can be confusing for those who are not familiar with camera systems. Sacrificing the simplicity of the description in favour of " toolcat=Canon EOS 5D Mark II " " toolcat=Canon EF 100mm F2.8L Macro IS USM" things is, in my opinion, not a good way of editing. By manually inserting "[[Category:Taken with Canon EOS 5D Mark II]] [[Category:Taken with Canon EF 100mm F2.8L Macro IS USM‎]]" , the file can be suitably categorized. Am I wrong? --トトト (talk) 17:38, 2 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

OK fine, since it is your file you can format however you want for your readers, but I only ask you retain the template in order to implement the category system properly and the categories would not be so easily removed. You can insert <div style="display:none;"> {{Taken with|toolcat=Canon EF 100mm F2.8L Macro IS USM}}</div> into the information template to hide it from readers while still displaying it properly in wikitext. --TeleComNasSprVen (talk) 20:50, 11 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
