I have deleted this image because the user at Flickr is known for using content from Getty Images that is very likely not compatible with the Creative Commons licence they granted. There have been numerous files from this Flickr stream that were deleted per Commons:Deletion requests/Getty Images photos from the TechCrunch Flickr account, so I when I reviewed this upload here I could not approve the free licence. I was looking at this file for Commons: License review, and am not clear why you believe it was taken by a federal employee. Brodman worked for a lot of places, not all federal, and we don't even know this was a work photo, so unless we have good evidence this a free photo, we will have to assume it isn't, and delete it. --GRuban (talk) 13:33, 31 January 2019 (UTC)
- I got the image from a US government webpage here so I assumed that if it were posted on a government page, it would be available for use. I didn't know how to connote that so I just selected the closest option I could find. -- Webmz (talk)
- Ah. Drat. Unfortunately that's not strictly true. It needs to be made by an employee of the US Federal Government in the course of their duties, not just displayed on a US Federal Government web page. I got bitten by that myself early in my Commons "career", I uploaded files from Voice of America, only to have it explained to me that quite often the government uses files made by other people, which doesn't make them public domain; so unless the web page specifically says the photo was made by someone from the Government, we can't assume it was. - Wait, wait! I think I found it. Does this look like the original to you? https://collections.nlm.nih.gov/catalog/nlm:nlmuid-101636427-img I think your image was cropped from this one, and this one is marked as "The National Library of Medicine believes this item to be in the public domain.", which it does not do for all images, for example https://collections.nlm.nih.gov/catalog/nlm:nlmuid-101410949-img, so I think we can save this one. --GRuban (talk) 16:17, 31 January 2019 (UTC)
