Aviation Wikiproject on Commons?

Hey mate, I've had an idea of starting an Aviation WikiProject on Commons. I have created a page at User talk:Russavia/Proposal where I hope that if other editors think this is a good idea, we can all come up with ideas, etc. Please keep all comments on that page for time being, and if you know of other editors on Commons or on other language projects who might be interested in commenting, coming up with ideas, etc, please let them know of the discussion. Perhaps you could let Spanish wikipedia project and editors know of the discussion? Let's see if this could be a workable project. russavia (talk) 23:37, 25 November 2011 (UTC)

Emblemas servicios aéreos de España

Hola Gracias por tu mensaje y perdona el retraso en mi respuesta. Termino muy tarde la carga de archivos porque me está costando realizar las imágenes y, además, mi conexión no va muy bien.

Sí que tengo pensado realizar algunos emblemas de la Guardia Civil, entre ellos los que me has pedido pero no tenía pensado realizar ninguno más de la Policía. Intentaré hacer el emblema del Servicio Aéreo de la Policía y el de la Sociedad de Salvamento que me has pedido pero no puedo garantizarlo. El problema es que trato de seguir un orden y como podrás haber visto he sido muy exhaustivo con el Ejército de Tierra y por falta de tiempo no podré dedicar el mismo tiempo a otras instituciones incluido el Ejército del Aire y la Armada en la que me centraré al terminar. Aquí están los de las agencias de rescate solicitadas. Al final con los pedidos me he animado a realizar unas pequeñas secciones con las unidades más importantes de la GC y CNP, más trabajo pero me ha quedado la galería más completa. No repito emblemas de policías autonómicas y guardacostas gallego porque ya están hechos y no dan mucho juego desde el punto de vista del diseño. Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the 2012 Picture of the Year competition is now open. We're interested in your opinion as to which images qualify to be the Picture of the Year for 2012. Voting is open to established Wikimedia users who meet the following criteria:

This year will be the eighth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year were entered in this competition. The 2013 Picture of the Year competition has ended and we are pleased to announce the results: We shattered participation records this year — more people voted in Picture of the Year 2013 than ever before. In both rounds, 4070 different people voted for their favorite images. Additionally, there were more image candidates (featured pictures) in the contest than ever before (962 images total).

• In the first round, 2852 people voted for all 962 files
• In the second round, 2919 people voted for the 50 finalists (the top 30 overall and top 2 in each category)

We congratulate the winners of the contest and thank them for creating these beautiful images and sharing them as freely licensed content:

1. 157 people voted for the winner, an image of a lightbulb with the tungsten filament smoking and burning.
2. In second place, 155 people voted for an image of "Sviati Hory" (Holy Mountains) National Park in Donetsk Oblast, Ukraine.

Croptool

Bots

You are receiving this message because a technical change may affect a bot, gadget, or user script you have been using. The breaking change involves API calls. This change has been planned for two years. The WMF will start making this change on 30 June 2015. A partial list of affected bots can be seen here: https://lists.wikimedia.org/pipermail/wikitech-l/2015-June/081931.html This includes all bots that are using pywikibot compat. Some of these bots have already been fixed. However, if you write user scripts or operate a bot that uses the API, then you should check your code, to make sure that it will not break.

What, exactly, is breaking? The "default continuation mode" for action=query requests to api.php will be changing to be easier for new coders to use correctly. To find out whether your script or bot may be affected, then search the source code (including any frameworks or libraries) for the string "query-continue". If that is not present, then the script or bot is not affected. In a few cases, the code will be present but not used. In that case, the script or bot will continue working.

This change will be part of 1.26wmf12. It will be deployed to test wikis (including mediawiki.org) on 30 June, to non-Wikipedias (such as Wiktionary) on 1 July, and to all Wikipedias on 2 July 2015.

If your bot or script is receiving the warning about this upcoming change (as seen at https://www.mediawiki.org/w/api.php?action=query&list=allpages ), it's time to fix your code!

• The simple solution is to simply include the "rawcontinue" parameter with your request to continue receiving the raw continuation data (example <https://www.mediawiki.org/w/api.php?action=query&list=allpages&rawcontinue=1>). No other code changes should be necessary.
• Or you could update your code to use the simplified continuation documented at https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/API:Query#Continuing_queries (example <https://www.mediawiki.org/w/api.php?action=query&list=allpages&continue=>), which is much easier for clients to implement correctly.

Either of the above solutions may be tested immediately, you'll know it works because you stop seeing the warning.

Hi,
You upload dozens of images from Flickr. Fine, but :

• Please categorize the photos with the type of plane, such as for example Category:McDonnell Douglas F/A-18 Hornet, instead of using Category:Aviation files (check needed). There are already more than 16.000 images in this category.
• Dont put in this category Category:Aviation files (check needed) images of other things than plane. For example locomotives.
• Dont put watermark on the photo. It is not totally forbiden on commons, but must be avoided. Specially with tous droits réservés : it may be a conflict with the licence in commons.
