Beste groet. --Foroa (talk) 16:06, 15 September 2011 (UTC)

Hi PMRMaeyaert, just to understand it corectly, this image shows a mural in Belgium, right? Who is the author/artist of this mural? --Túrelio (talk) 18:55, 15 April 2016 (UTC)

hint for the description

Hi PMRMaeyaert, can you please use another delimiter than '|' (pipe) for your description as e.g. in File:PM 039656 B Oudenaarde.jpg, as pipe is a special character in wiki context and cuts the description (in your case) to the very last part after the last pipe symbol. This makes the important part of the description, the name of the object disappear and reduces information just to the last part, which usually is the country. I already changed a lot of your descriptions by just replacing '|' (pipe) by '/' (slash). It makes categorizationn a lot easier if the description is readable and you do not have to dig into the source code to read it. Btw, compliments to your vast collection of valuable and high-quality images. regards --Herzi Pinki (talk) 12:47, 29 April 2016 (UTC)

moved to here from :de:User talk:Herzi Pinki: Beste Dank für das Bericht und Info.

Maeyaert La Rectoria de Sallent E-25286 Pinell de Solsona tel +34 669 783202 pmrmaeyaert@gmail.com www.pmrmaeyaert.eu — Preceding unsigned comment was added by 176.85.62.50 (talk) 11:31, 10 May 2016 (UTC)

Mvg DirkVE (talk) 13:04, 6 November 2016 (UTC)

Wiki Loves Monuments France 2019

Bonjour,

Orden uw bestand AUB

--Carolus (talk) 23:43, 27 December 2020 (UTC)

Kan @Multichill: even advies geven? bedankt. --Carolus (talk) 14:25, 28 December 2020 (UTC)

File:Lessines NDame a la Rose PM 089736.jpg

Lotje (talk) 17:31, 31 December 2020 (UTC)

Hi PMRMaeyaert, who are he persons depicted in this sculpture, St. Joseph and child-Jesus? Could you add the name of the sculptor. --Túrelio (talk) 11:28, 3 January 2021 (UTC)

Hello, I verified the picture file, and can tell you that the sculpture is in the former hospital, actual museum, gardens. It seems to me a polychrome sculpture 20th century, and I think the name of the sculpture will be: anonymous. Anyhow I will contact the museum responsible. cheers. — Preceding unsigned comment added by PMRMaeyaert (talk • contribs)

oei, oei, ondertekenen: hoe moet dat?

Bedankt: nog iets dat ik heb bijgeleerd

Remember, 2 tildes !!!! Lotje (talk) 14:17, 3 January 2021 (UTC)
Lotje (talk) 14:33, 3 January 2021 (UTC)
Eissink (talk) 15:44, 3 January 2021 (UTC).
@Túrelio: to come back to your question and to update you: there is another file duplicate by the same user. don't know which one should be deleted. Lotje (talk) 15:18, 3 January 2021 (UTC)

For Túrelio: both files are usable, don't care (cada fichero es utilisable, solo hay diferencia en el nombre de fichero). — Preceding unsigned comment added by PMRMaeyaert (talk • contribs)

AN/U

Extra motif

Please, note that eg this work of art,Bisschops portret is currently protected by copyright. Nobody has permission of the diocese to reproduce this kind of art. PMayaert is aware of this restriction. Can this be deleted, and taken in his judgment? Kr---Carolus (talk) 23:13, 3 January 2021 (UTC)

Duplicates

Dear PMRMaeyaert, I really admire a lot of your uploads. But I can't help seeing lots of double photographs. Please stop importing new identical photographs, as I will mark them as duplicates, and they will then be removed. Vysotsky (talk) 23:09, 4 January 2021 (UTC)

I marked two photographs that you recently added as duplicates and here's why: they were both in lower resolution than the original ones, and both had less informative metadata. Take for example this file (the preferred one), with both object location and a link to Belgian heritage number 81703. It seems quite clear that the newly uploaded image had to be deleted. I understand you prefer the names of the new files. Could you tell us why? (In this case, the "old" name is also more informative.) Vysotsky (talk) 23:45, 4 January 2021 (UTC)

Hello, I have indeed been oploading lots of pictures as these have been changed on filename, making them unusable for many database to use them. The very bfile you mention the new version uploaded had this information: Belgium. West-Vlaanderen. Anzegem. Tiegem, parochiekerk Sint-ArnoldusParochiekerk Sint-Arnoldus,buitenzicht, de vieringtoren, de spits. Tiegem. Parish church (Sint-Arnoldus). Exterior. The tower. Spire. . Cultural heritage; Cultural heritage|Monuments; Europe|Belgium; Europe|Belgium|West-Vlaanderen; Europe|Belgium|West-Vlaanderen|Anzegem; Europe|Belgium|West-Vlaanderen|Tiegem (Anzegem). Ref: PM_067104_B_Tiegem. Photo: Paul M.R. Maeyaert. www.polmayer.com.© Paul M.R. Maeyaert; pmrmaeyaert@gmail.com. DO NOT CHANGE THE FILE NAME. BESTANDSNAAM NIET WIJZIGEN. I hope that in the future no more file mames be changed. Cheers. MAEYAERT 4 jan 2021 23:54 (utc)

Give us one (1) example of a file that had it's name changed. The example file you mentioned earlier had not been subject to renaming.
Also: please explain how the name of a file could make a file unusable "for many database", and please provide examples of those databases.
And sign your posts.
Eissink (talk) 00:08, 5 January 2021 (UTC).
The old filenames of removed duplicates will still be there, and will carry a redirect to the kept preferred image. Whenever I will find extra information in the duplicated files, I will transport this information to the kept file. Vysotsky (talk) 00:18, 5 January 2021 (UTC)
Hello Vysotsky, please look at this, i tried to create a clear Category:Tomb of Philippe of Locquenghien and Valeria de Cotereau, but only doubles and doubles....they all should be renamed correctly, not on his conditions. thnx.--Carolus (talk) 00:22, 5 January 2021 (UTC)   Done

@Vysotsky: PMRMaeyaert uploaded many thousands of pictures yesterday, and so far I haven't found one that was not a duplicate. As you know, they should all be deleted. Even if the older files have been renamed (I don't believe they were), that would not be a reason to not delete. Eissink (talk) 00:24, 5 January 2021 (UTC).

I agree, we should start from zero, and explain him the restricitions of wikipedia. Simple. New year= new start...and PLEASE; please make him stop uploading even more images, today. I will help him in future, to contribute, but not in this way of working. Than someone else may clean up the mess. Thx --Carolus (talk) 00:28, 5 January 2021 (UTC)
@PMRMaeyaert: @Vysotsky: deze vraag had ik eerder op hier gesteld (waarschijnlijk verkeerdelijk), echter zonder gevolg, vandaar deze herhaling: What to do with the double images in (for example) Category:Chapelle Notre-Dame de la Paix (Ellezelles) Thank you for your time. Lotje (talk) 06:38, 5 January 2021 (UTC)   Done
@PMRMaeyaert: Er zijn er hier 3. Graag je stellingname. Lotje (talk) 13:29, 5 January 2021 (UTC)   Done
Vysotsky (talk) 14:08, 5 January 2021 (UTC)

Proposal: I will deduplicate all photographs from this collection. I will try to bring all useful information to the file with the highest resolution (in most cases: the first uploaded version). This will take several months. If you have any further suggestions, don't hesitate to bring them up. Vysotsky (talk) 10:07, 6 January 2021 (UTC)

There's one important condition: no new duplicate photographs. This is very important, as new double files will only cause frustration, trouble and extra work. Vysotsky (talk) 10:23, 6 January 2021 (UTC)

Thank you for replying. The filenames of these 3 examples were never changed on Commons, as far as I can see (check the History tab). As to double files: the images in lower resolution will be changed into a redirect to the files in higher resolution, and relevant descriptions will be moved to the kept files. Vysotsky (talk) 16:49, 7 January 2021 (UTC)

Hello, As I never change file names it is sure tha in the cases mentioned the file names have been changed withis commons. As far as I could see until now, changing filename is never registered, and is part of the problem. — Preceding unsigned comment added by PMRMaeyaert (talk • contribs)

Dear Paul Maeyaert, No, every change is registered, see your example (no changes) and an example where the file name has been changed: this one. The only time you won't see changes with the file itself is in the case of duplicates, because the extra file is now only a redirect, see this redirect. That's one of the reasons one should not upload duplicates. Vysotsky (talk) 20:43, 7 January 2021 (UTC)

Category:Moregem

Lotje (talk) 07:49, 6 January 2021 (UTC)

New uploads

Dear PMRMaeyaert, I noticed you are now busy uploading new images. As far I can see, there are no doubles as yet. Will you please make sure you won't upload any doubles? We still need to deduplicate thousands of your old uploaded doubles, so uploading new double photographs will have serious consequences. Vysotsky (talk) 20:37, 10 January 2021 (UTC)

please be aware, that everyone has asked him to stop uploading MULTIPLE TIMES. --Carolus (talk) 09:30, 12 January 2021 (UTC)
There are no doubles in the new uploads. I have no objection against the uploading of images of cultural heritage from Belgium, Spain, Bolivia et al. The images of Maeyaert are used at least 2300 times, in many different language versions of Wikipedia. I see the old problems, and I help to erase them. Thank you for doing the same. Vysotsky (talk) 11:17, 12 January 2021 (UTC)
No, he must go. Do it yourself, alone. No mercy. --Carolus (talk) 12:51, 12 January 2021 (UTC)

List of Mayaert's duplicate's - Cleaning of Commons

This list is made by all, to alert the community of the poor work quality of PMRMayaert. Be aware: some of the images can have slightly different light balance, clouding or cropping, but they have the same result. We sould not keep the same images of monuments; with different clouding in the air => that is not the point of Commons, right? Please feel free to protect and clear Commons of duplicate's. Lleida

Dear PMRMaeyaert, First I want to thank you for the work of photographing the city of Category:Lleida. Then remind yourself of the importance of subcategorizing your photos so as not to oversaturate the initial category and make them easier for the community to find. This time I did it but it would have been better if you had done it. A big hug.--AlbertRA (talk) 15:56, 31 March 2021 (UTC)

— Preceding unsigned comment added by PMRMaeyaert (talk • contribs)
Dear Paul Maeyaert, Thanks for uploading so many interesting images. But you really underestimate yourself, when saying: "Así sea interesante de ingresar categorias, pero yo no tengo la posibilidad de crear lo." It's easy to add categories, and even more easy when you have as much knowledge about cultural heritage as you have. Do not hesitate to give it a try next time. Remember: people will be able to find your images much easier, and usage on and off Wiki will be stimulated. See for example Simon de Pape or Onze-Lieve-Vrouw-Hemelvaartkerk (Nukerke). Vysotsky (talk) 18:30, 5 April 2021 (UTC)
Hello Paul; as before; please stop with uploading images. They are very poor quality. You do not have any usefull special focus, just general interrest. Besides even here, people need to clean your mess. When will you accept Wikipedia common skills? --Carolus (talk) 00:02, 6 April 2021 (UTC)
I have to contradict that negative statement. The photographs by Paul Maeyaert could benefit from uploading in higher resolution, but most photographs are quite nice, as can be seen easily, e.g. in usage of recent uploads such as Rupelmonde. Maeyaert have been uploading since 2011, and his photographs are used at least >6000 times on-Wiki, which proves that I am not the only one who likes his photographs (and certainly not the only one hoping he will continue uploading). Vysotsky (talk) 10:54, 6 April 2021 (UTC)

Hello, I received some messages about creating categories, what should be very useful. I can help with this as I can make lists with all metadata of selected files from my archive within seconds. In this way one can have a good overview of. All metadata contain information about location, sub location, country, and also a brief description in English and/or the original language. There are also a series of keywords specific for Cultural Heritage, at the moment 84 thematic. Cheers. Further on I can tell you that all image files have been transferred to Europeana, what was a rather complicated work that is done now. — Preceding unsigned comment added by PMRMaeyaert (talk • contribs)

A file that you have uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, File:PM 119976 B Petegem.jpg, is a derivative work, containing an "image within an image". Examples of such works would include a photograph of a sculpture, a scan of a magazine cover, or a map that has been altered from the original. In each of these cases, the rights of the creator of the original must be considered, as well as those of the creator of the derivative work.

While the description page states who made this derivative work, it currently doesn't specify who created the original work, so the overall copyright status is unclear. If you did not create the original work depicted in this image, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright.

Please edit the file description and add the missing information, or the file may be deleted. If you created the original content yourself, enter this information as the source. If someone else created the content, the source should be the address to the web page where you found it, the name and ISBN of the book you scanned it from, or similar. You should also name the author, provide verifiable information to show that the content is in the public domain or has been published under a free license by its author, and add an appropriate template identifying the public domain or licensing status, if you have not already done so. Please add the required information for this and other files you have uploaded before adding more files. If you need assistance, please ask at the help desk. Thank you!

Category:Sint Janskerk (Poperinge)

Met vriendelijke groeten — Preceding unsigned comment added by PMRMaeyaert (talk • contribs)

Lotje (talk) 04:19, 4 August 2021 (UTC)

— Preceding unsigned comment was added by 94.109.178.20 (talk) 06:46, 11 August 2021 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading File:PMa B 537 Tournai.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.

Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own).

The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded ([[:File:PMa B 537 Tournai.jpg]]) and the above demanded information in your request.

Hello, the file metadata and description as "Toulouse-Lautrec" are obviously wrong. The signature of this work that is clearly post-1945 says "Godefroid A.", so I think maybe of Alain Godefroid, a living artist. The "own work" is wrong anyway, only the photo is yours, and you cannot license an artwork by someone else like that. --Anvilaquarius (talk) 20:08, 18 November 2021 (UTC)

This painting is indeed from Godefroid A., can't find his first name.
Thanks for correcting. 94.109.138.2 09:24, 19 November 2021 (UTC)

File:PMa B 622 Tournai.jpg has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Thanks for uploading File:PM 147411 B Brugge.jpg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.

If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.)

If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there.

Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you.

Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Congrats

Dear PMRMaeyaert, Congratulations: the total number of images you uploaded to Wikimedia Commons now stands at 45,319. Total usage across all Wikis is now 9000 times. Distinct images used: 4037 (=ca. 9% of all your uploads). Of course, numbers are not the most important aspect of your work here, but I would like to thank you for your contributions to Wiki.
