You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account. There are several tools to upload files. Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful. Made a mistake? Do you want to have a file renamed or moved? Use the move link and wait for an authorized user to rename it. Do you want to have your recently uploaded picture removed? Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]

[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

"Killing" is swedish for kid, really? If you don't mind, IMHO it might be better to change the filename to something less controversial, as this one might provoke angry sentiments (did the uploader kill that poor animal?). upphovsrättsfrågor Sverige

Kan du även ställa på Commons:Bybrunnen, där du kanske får ett bättre svar. Jag vet inte om det kanske är svårt att hitta att det finns en bybrunn?

UB/Eget arbete

Det står i mallen {{UB}} att filerna kommer från "Umeå universitetsbibliotek", men du skriver på svWS att det är "egen scanning", hur ska jag tolka det? Att det är du som sitter på UUB och scannar? Allt gott i så fall. - Det vore i sådana fall mödan värt om du försökte skära bort kanterna på boken innan du lägger ut dem. Filerna blir (väldigt) mycket mindre och lättare att hantera. Jag sitter själv med "Paint" och gör detta, så det behövs inget avancerat instrument.

Picture of the Year voting round 1 open

Dear Wikimedians,

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the 2012 Picture of the Year competition is now open. We're interested in your opinion as to which images qualify to be the Picture of the Year for 2012. Voting is open to established Wikimedia users who meet the following criteria:

1. Users must have an account, at any Wikimedia project, which was registered before Tue, 01 Jan 2013 00:00:00 +0000 [UTC].
2. This user account must have more than 75 edits on any single Wikimedia project before Tue, 01 Jan 2013 00:00:00 +0000 [UTC]. Please check your account eligibility at the POTY 2012 Contest Eligibility tool.
3. Users must vote with an account meeting the above requirements either on Commons or another SUL-related Wikimedia project (for other Wikimedia projects, the account must be attached to the user's Commons account through SUL).

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year are all entered in this competition. From professional animal and plant shots to breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historically relevant images, images portraying the world's best architecture, maps, emblems, diagrams created with the most modern technology, and impressive human portraits, Commons features pictures of all flavors.

For your convenience, we have sorted the images into topic categories. Two rounds of voting will be held: In the first round, you can vote for as many images as you like. The first round category winners and the top ten overall will then make it to the final. In the final round, when a limited number of images are left, you must decide on the one image that you want to become the Picture of the Year.

Category:Hakarp archive

Hej! Vet du varifrån dessa bilder kommer? Det är oklart om de publicerats någonstans och de ser ut som en blandning av publicerade vykort och opublicerade privata familjefoton. De bilder som inte publicerats före 1 mars 1989 är upphovsrättsskyddade i USA och måste därför plockas bort från Commons. --Stefan4 (talk) 20:28, 21 August 2013 (UTC)

Jag kan inte så mycket om upphovsrätt. Bilderna kommer från Hakarps hembygdsförenings bildarkiv, som jag ombads skanna in och ladda upp på Commons av hembygdsföreningen. Betyder det publicerad? Jag hänger inte riktigt med. //Tanzania (talk) 20:44, 21 August 2013 (UTC)

Det beror nog på vad som har skett på bildarkivet. Om vem som helst kunde besöka bildarkivet före 1978 och titta på bilderna på plats, eller om man kunde beställa fram kopior av dem före 1 mars 1989, skulle jag gissa att de räknas som publicerade och därmed fria i USA. USA:s upphovsrättslag är dock förvirrande och ordet "publicering" definieras olika beroende på när publiceringen skedde. --Stefan4 (talk) 20:53, 21 August 2013 (UTC)

Arkivet har hela tiden varit tillgängligt, bl.a. använts i krönikor, tidningar, reportage. Det jag ombads göra var att göra det ännu tillgängligare men det har hela tiden varit öppet att scanna, kopiera eller beställa kopior ur. //Tanzania (talk) 20:56, 21 August 2013 (UTC)

I så fall ska det nog inte vara någon fara. I ett rättsfall från 70-talet (s:Letter Edged in Black Press, Inc. v. Public Building Commission of Chicago) fann en amerikansk domstol att en staty (w:Chicago Picasso) publicerats eftersom vem som helst kunde titta på statyn och ta bilder på den genom att besöka ett specifikt torg i Chicago. Om det på samma sätt var möjligt att ta del av fotona i arkivet, torde även fotona räknas som publicerade. --Stefan4 (talk) 21:28, 21 August 2013 (UTC)

SVG file with Swedish translation selected

Go to File:Symptoms of coronavirus disease 2019 3.0.svg, find the dropdown box that says "Render this image in", and select Swedish. Alternatively, use this link with a lang parameter. Just including the image on a Swedish wiki page should show the Swedish translation. The Swedish translation may be forced by using the |lang=sw parameter:

Som vanligt ingår naturreservat och nationalparker i tävlingen – samt förra årets uppdateringar med biosfärområden och naturminnen! Tävlingen börjar 1 maj, och pågår under hela maj månad. Om du har varit ute i världen och rest kan du även se om resorna sammanfaller med övriga internationella deltävlingar, och i så fall vara med och tävla även där. Du får det här meddelandet då du tidigare har deltagit i de svenska deltävlingarna av Wiki Loves Monuments eller Wiki Loves Earth! För någon vecka sedan blev det klart vem som tog hem förstapriset i Wiki Loves Earth 2021 – stort grattis till Måns Hagberg och hans fotografi av reveln vid Vivesholms naturreservat! Alla vinnare kan du se här – tack alla deltagare för fina bidrag!

Den 1 september inleds 2021 års svenska deltävling av Wiki Loves Monuments, där det skulle vara väldigt roligt om du ville vara med och delta! Målet med Wiki Loves Monuments är att fotografera svenska kulturarvsmonument. De kategorier som ingår är byggnadsminnen, fornminnen, K-märkta fartyg och arbetslivsmuseer – och du är välkommen att bidra med bilder hela september.

Quest’anno partecipi al concorso Wiki Loves Monuments?

Da domani sarà possibile caricare di nuovo le foto, fino al 30 settembre!

Come ogni anno, e questo è il decimo anniversario, torna Wiki Loves Monuments, il concorso fotografico più grande al mondo che negli anni ha coinvolto quasi 50 nazioni e più di 15.000 persone e hanno prodotto un database di oltre 360.000 immagini di monumenti, patrimonio culturale dell’umanità intera a disposizione di tutti su Wikimedia Commons.

Con la tua partecipazione hai sostenuto lo sviluppo turistico del nostro Paese perché rende disponibili a tutti le sue bellezze. L’obiettivo è la valorizzazione dell’immenso patrimonio culturale italiano sul web. Le fotografie dei monumenti vengono condivise su Wikimedia Commons, il grande database di immagini di Wikipedia, con licenza libera CC-BY-SA. Wiki Loves Monuments contribuisce infatti a diffondere la filosofia di Wikimedia Italia e di tutti i progetti wiki, che si basano sulla libera condivisione della cultura.

L’Italia nelle sue prime 9 edizioni (dal 2012 al 2020) conta 145.000 immagini 15.000 monumenti, 2.000 fotografi, 2.000 enti. Uno dei 2.000 fotografi sei tu e quindi anche quest’anno non puoi mancare, partecipa!!!

Du får det här meddelandet eftersom du tidigare har bidragit med bilder till de svenska deltävlingarna av Wiki Loves Earth eller Wiki Loves Monuments. Jag hoppas att du vill vara med i år också! Som vanligt ingår naturreservat och nationalparker, biosfärområden och naturminnen i tävlingen! Tävlingen började 1 maj, och pågår under hela maj månad. Om du har varit ute i världen och rest kan du även se om resorna sammanfaller med övriga internationella deltävlingar, och i så fall vara med och tävla även där. Även om fortsatt försiktighet är att rekommendera går det bra att ge sig ut på fotosafari och fotografera naturen i ditt närområde – eller varför inte damma av fotoalbumen och tävla med bilder du har tagit tidigare?

Nytt för i år är att vi utöver bästa foto även belönar fotograferande av tidigare ofotograferade objekt samt bästa bildserie om minst tio fotografier av samma objekt. Tävlingen börjar 1 maj, och pågår under hela maj månad. Om du har varit ute i världen och rest kan du även se om resorna sammanfaller med övriga internationella deltävlingar, och i så fall vara med och tävla även där. Expeditioner, fotosafari eller en helt vanlig promenad?
